By Chris Williams: Unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. assured boxing fans that he does still want to fight Manny Pacquiao in the future. However, Mayweather Jr. has an obstacle in front of him in the form of WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, who Mayweather Jr. faces on September 17th.

Mayweather vs. Ortiz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 17th
By Eric Thomas: The September 17th title fight between WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) will be taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Dan Rafael on his twitter page. It’s not really surprising that the fight will be taking place in Vegas rather than New York or Texas, as Mayweather Jr. lives in Las Vegas and prefers to fight there so as not to have to travel.

Return of the King…
Many are called but only a few are chosen. In the end, the victim must fit the profile. And so, Mayweather finally broke his long hiatus to face another willing sacrifice, the welterweight title holder Victor Ortiz. In a sleight of hand, the self-proclaimed King is relevant again.
Pacquiao does it better than Mayweather
By John F. McKenna (McJack): When Floyd “Money” Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO’s) fought Oscar De Lahoya he eked out a split decision. When Floyd took on Ricky Hatton he had all kinds of problems for eight rounds before finally figuring him out and knocking him out in the 10th round.
Ortiz: I’ll take Mayweather to war
By Eric Thomas: WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) has already come up with a strategy to try and beat undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 Ko’s) in their fight on September 17th at a still to be determined venue. Ortiz, 24, says he’s going to take the fight to Mayweather and try to turn it into a war. This no doubt has been attempted before, albeit with weaker and smaller fighters than Ortiz. Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricky Hatton both attempted to take the fight to Mayweather and were easily beaten.
Mayweather has no proof
By John F. McKenna (McJack): The boxing ring is not the only place that Floyd Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO’s) is ducking the reigning Pound for Pound superstar Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KO’s). “Money” is ducking the “Pacman” in court as well. Earlier this week Floyd’s attorney asked Federal magistrate Judge Robert Johnson to postpone the deposition that he was slated to give on Friday, June 17.
Mayweather: I’ll only fight “all natural fighters”
By Chris Williams: Unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. said in an interview at fighthype.com that he only fights “100% all pure and all natural fighters”. Mayweather will have random blood testing done for his next bout against Victor Ortiz on September 17th. Ortiz is on board for the testing and won’t fight Mayweather over the testing. Mayweather seems leery of facing Manny Pacquiao without the random blood testing, even though Pacquiao has never tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in the past.
Mayweather wants to postpone deposition
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Reports are circulating in the media that Floyd “Money” Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO’s) through his lawyers has asked the US Circuit Court Judge in Nevada to postpone the deposition he is expected to give on Friday related to the lawsuit that Manny Pacquiao and his lawyers have filed against him. Floyd’s lawyers contend that he “needs to concentrate on training and not be distracted by preparing for and testifying at his deposition in this case.”
Will Pacquiao look to fight Ortiz after Mayweather gets through with him?
By Chris Williams: If you look at some of Manny Pacquiao’s opponents in recent ears they’ve quite frequently been guys that had been recently beaten by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in fairly lopsided fights. Mayweather defeated the following fighters in the past four years: Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley. Pacquiao then fought all of them and beat them after Mayweather had already done a job on them. It’s almost as if Pacquiao doesn’t face these guys until Mayweather shows him it’s safe for him to do so by beating the stuffing out of them first.
Mayweather vs. Ortiz – An analysis
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Most boxing writers, analysts and fans think that the September 17 matchup between Floyd “Money” Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO’s) and Victor “Vicious” Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) will be an exciting fight. Most also concede, this writer included, that Ortiz has little chance to defeat Mayweather.
