Hatton gives Khan a chance at beating Mayweather

floyd9By Scott Gilfoid: Ricky Hatton, a former knockout victim of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KO’s), is giving Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) a good chance at beating Mayweather if they face each other next May. Hatton thinks that if Khan can box intelligently, avoid going to war with Floyd, and using his speed, he could pull off an upset in this fight.

Hatton is still wise enough to know that Khan would likely get beaten by Mayweather, but he thinks Khan could pull off the miracle upset if he fought the perfect fight.

Hatton told wharf.co.uk “There’s very few fighters that can match him [Mayweather] for speed. Normally people fly at Floyd, but if Amir can jab, move and keep ot of the way and, if Floyd has to be the attacker, it could be different…it would certainly be interesting if Amir swallows his pride for one fight and doesn’t go to war.”

Khan describes how he’ll beat Mayweather

khan11By Scott Gilfoid: With rumors flying around left and right about who Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) will be fighting next, he’s still talking about only one fighter and that’s Floyd Mayweather Jr. as his next opponent. Khan badly wants that fight and he thinks he’s got the right strategy to hand Mayweather his first loss of his career next year when he finally get a chance to fight him.

Goodness knows, Khan has been talking about wanting to fight Mayweather for ages now, and it’ll be good to have Khan finally get it over with so that we don’t have to keep him yap about the fight.

Khan told Sports News “Speed is what gives Mayweather problems. You have to box Floyd at his own game. Speed always breaks a defense.

Khan: I’ve got a better fight than Alexander

khan3334By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) revealed today how confident that he is that he’ll be getting Floyd Mayweather Jr. as his next opponent. Khan seems to be dead certain that he’ll be getting the fight against Floyd despite Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer saying that there’s no guarantee that Khan will get that fight next in May.

Khan turned down a fight against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander because of the prospect of him fighting Mayweather. If that fight doesn’t happen, then Khan will be stuck with nothing to show for the last 12 months of his career.

Khan vs. Mayweather not a certainty, says Schaefer

khan44By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan turned down a fight against IBF welterweight champion on December 7th that would have put Khan in a position where he had the cache to get a big money engagement against Floyd Mayweather Jr. for May 3rd.

Khan’s move to avoid the risky fight with Alexander to get the bigger money bout against Mayweather could backfire on him with Khan getting nothing, as Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is saying that there’s no guarantee that he’ll get the fight with Mayweather.

Khan: Negotiations with Mayweather are underway

khan4343By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan is saying that Golden Boy Promotions are trying to negotiate a fight between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. right now. How serious negotiations are is unclear because Golden Boy is pushing hard to try and get Mayweather to fight their future cash cow WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and they need that fight badly for the Mexican fighter to gain a wide audience in the U.S.

Khan said to I Film London “Negotiations are underway. It’s a fight that Floyd Mayweather wants, and it a fight I’d want to take. I’d love to be in the same ring with Mayweather. I know he has flaws. I think my speed will make a difference in this fight. I think I can make a very tough fight for him.”
