Hearn doubts Kell Brook will be ready for Joshua-Whyte card on 12/12

brook5433By Scott Gilfoid: It’s looking like IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook won’t be ready by next month to fight Diego Chaves on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte fight card on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn would love to have the Brook-Chaves fight take place on the December 12th card because it would make it a slam dunk that the card would be worthy of putting on Sky Box Office.

However, Brook still has injured ribs, and the injury isn’t likely to be healed by next month. What Hearn obviously doesn’t want is to rush Brook back to the ring and have him fall apart against Chaves when he starts nailing the 29-year-old Brook with body shots to test his injured ribs.

Joshua: Whyte might take me past 3 rounds

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: A cocky Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) speculates that undefeated Dillian Whyte (16-0, 13 KOs) could be the guy to finally take him past the 3rd round to extend him a little when they meet up on December 12th in their fight on Sky from the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Joshua, 26, feels certain that he’s going to be walking out of the ring with the British heavyweight title in his possession on the night. The only thing that Joshua isn’t sure about is whether Whyte will be able to take him past the 3rd round.

Whyte: I will beat Joshua again!

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Dillian Whyte (16-0, 13 KOs) is ready to beat his nemesis Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) for the second time next month when the two of them go at it for the vacant British heavyweight strap on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Whyte, 27, figures that his punching power is the equal of the 6’6”, 250lb Joshua despite him being shorter than his opponent. Whyte feels that he’ll have a chance of stopping him when he connects with one of his big shots on the button, which he will likely do at some point in the fight.

Heavyweight hopefuls fighting in December

whyte555By Gav Duthie: In the space of a week between 12-19 December we will know a lot more about the prospects and pretenders in the heavyweight division as six of them lock horns. Here are some previews and predictions.

Anthony Joshua 14-0 (14) v Dillian Whyte 16-0 (13)

December 12 should be the end of a rivalry that goes back 6 years to when Dillian ‘The Villain’ Whyte beat Olympic champion Anthony Joshua as an amateur.

Whyte turned pro first and raced to a 9-0 record before he was banned for two years after testing positive for banned supplement (MHA). On his return he has wasted no time fighting 7 times in less than a year winning all by knockout. Fans and media were critical of his last performance against experienced Brian Minto but he has come a long way since joining up with trainer Jonathon Banks. Whyte will be looking to derail the AJ phenomenon and get a world title shot himself.

Is Joshua vs. Whyte a PPV worthy card?

joshua6By Scott Gilfoid: There’s a chance that Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport will have the Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte card be on pay-per-view on Sky Box Office on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK. It’s still not decided as of yet.

It would be a potential flop if Hearn has the Joshua-Whyte card go as it is right now because there aren’t any real meaningful fights other than the main event. I think the boxing fans won’t be interested at all in paying to see the Joshua-Whyte card, because there’s nothing on the undercard to really interest the fans.

Deontay Wilder wants Anthony Joshua fight

joshua6By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten WBC heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) says he’s really looking to a clash against undefeated #2 WBC Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) when/if the British heavyweight has worked himself into the No.1 mandatory spot in the future.

Wilder sees the 6’6” Joshua as being a good opponent for him, and he’s really looking forward to that fight if it ever happens. Wilder likes the idea that the boxing public is fully behind Joshua in the UK, because he wants an opponent that can generate a lot of excitement by having a large fan base.

Brook/Chavez Off PPV, Joshua/Whyte on?

YouTube video

By K.A.B: It looks like UK Fans have been dealt a double edge sword. After the withdrawal of Wladamir Klitschko from his October fight date with Tyson Fury, The PPV fightcard for the Kell Brook vs. Diego Chavez has now been moved to Sky Sports 1 instead for October 24th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. This obviously is good news for UK fans because it was hard to justify that fight remaining on Sky Box office.

Fury: Whyte has psychological edge over Joshua

whyte5By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury thinks that unbeaten heavyweight prospect Dillian Whyte (16-0, 13 KOs) has the highly ranked and much hyped Anthony Joshua’s number, and he believes we could see Whyte winning their contest on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Fury notes that Joshua is the one that has received all the hype from the media due to him winning the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics in London, but he thinks that Whyte has the mental edge over the 6’6” Joshua. Whyte defeated Joshua in the past in 2009 in the amateurs, and he showed in that fight that he was able to beat Joshua at his own game by slugging it out.

Joshua vs. Whyte to be televised in U.S

whyte555By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says the December 12th card at the O2 Arena in London, UK, headlined by unbeaten heavyweights Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) vs. Dillian Whyte (16-0, 13 KOs), will be televised in the United States on that date. Hearn says the fight will definitely be televised, and he’s working on it right now.

It is unknown how many of the undercard fights will be shown in the U.S as part of this card.

Joshua, 25, and Whyte will be fighting for the vacant British heavyweight title. Joshua will have his recently won Commonwealth title on the line as well.

Joshua captured that strap with a 1st round knockout over Gary Cornish last month on September 12th in a mismatch at the O2 Arena in London.

Luke Campbell to fight on Joshua-Whyte undercard

campbell5By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC, #10 IBF lightweight contender and 2012 Olympic gold medalist for Britain Luke Campbell (12-0, 10 KOs) has been added to the December 12th card headlined by heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

It’s still unknown who the 27-year-old Campbell will be fighting on the card, but hopefully for his sake it’s an upgrade from his last opponent Tommy Coyle, who Campbell effortlessly beat last August in stopping him in the 10th round.
