By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) says his recently broken right hand has improved from 75% that it was for his fight against Eric Molina last June to 95% right now for his fight later this month against the talented Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) on September 26th on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC at the Legacy Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Wilder, 6’7”, suffered a broken right hand in his one-sided 12 round unanimous decision win over Bermane Stiverne last January in a fight in which Wilder had Stiverne hurt several times.

By Scott Gilfoid: A lot of boxing fans and members of the media are writing off the chances of the 6’5” Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) for his title shot against the talented WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) on September 26th. They don’t see the 32-year-old Duhaupas as having the talent to compete with the 6’7” Wilder.

I can understand why they wouldn’t see Duhaupas as being good enough to compete with Wilder, because not too many heavyweights can due to his incredible punching power, but I think Duhaupas has the talent to possibly go the distance with Wilder.

By Scott Gilfoid: #12 WBC Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) plans on making the most of his opportunity when he gets inside the ring in September 26th against the talented WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-1, 33 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC free TV from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

This is the first and likely the last chance the 6’5” Duhaupas will get to fight for a world title during his career, and he obviously doesn’t want to waste his big chance at the big time by getting knocked out or dominated by a one-sided 12 round decision by the 6’7” Wilder.

Duhaupas, 32, has been in with big punchers before and survived them, but this obviously a much bigger test for the big French heavyweight because he’s arguably facing the biggest punching heavyweight in the planet right now in Deontay Wilder.

“I’m excited to be making my US debut and fighting for a heavyweight world title in the same night. This is the biggest opportunity of my career and I’m going to take advantage of it,” Duhaupas said. “Deontay is a huge competitor, but I’m coming into this fight prepared to make things very difficult for him. I plan on bringing the title back home to France.”

By Scott Gilfoid: Boxing fans are in for a real treat with the official announcement of the September 26th fight between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) and #12 WBC France’s Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) for Premier Boxing Champions on NBC at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. This is a very good fight with an excellent co-feature about between former WBC lightweight champions Antonio DeMarco and Omar Figueroa Jr. This is some good stuff for the fans.

Wilder, 6’7”, is looking to become a huge star in America like some of the greats in the best in the heavyweight division, and each victory brings him closer to that level. In my estimation, Wilder will be fabulously rich by the time he hits 50-0. He’s only 16 fights away from that magical mark, but he’s got a lot of tough opponents to get out of the way before he hits that level.

By Scott Gilfoid: As I previously announced earlier, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s next fight against the highly skilled #12 WBC Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) is expected to be announced any day now, and it might be before the end of this week.

Wilder and the 6’5” Duhaupas will be fighting on September 26th on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder needed to face someone for a voluntary defense to get him ready for his title against Alexander Povetkin in the first half of 2016, but I was very surprised at the pick that Wilder and his adviser Al Haymon selected for his next fight.
