By Sean McDaniel: WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s) paid Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) a big compliment when he said he feels Froch is the No.2 fighter in the super middleweight division. Ward says this even though IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (29-0, 24 KO’s) is still unbeaten, and Mikkel Kessler has a win over Froch last year and hasn’t been beaten since then.
Froch vs. Ward
Froch: Ward is a boring fighter
Froch: I’m the #2 fighter in the super middleweight division
By Scott Gilfoid: I don’t mind a fighter doing as bit of crowing after a big win or some kind of accomplishment like winning an award, but I don’t understand how Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) can be bragging about himself coming off of his one-sided 12 round decision loss to Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament last Saturday. He should be crying right about now instead of boasting about the loss.
Ward beat Froch with a fractured left hand
By Scott Gilfoid: To show you how much better WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s) was compared to Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s), Ward reportedly fought with a multiple fracture of his left the entire fight in pounding out an easy 12 round unanimous decision win over Froch in the Super Six tournament last weekend.
Froch wants comeback fight in Nottingham
By Sean McDaniel: Having lost his WBC super middleweight title last weekend to Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament, Carl Froch is interested in fighting at home in Nottingham, England for his next fight. Froch hasn’t fought at home in Nottingham since winning a controversial 12 round decision over Andre Dirrell in 2009. He hopes to fight either IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute or Mikkel Kessler next.
Ward Sports Illustrated Fighter of the Year
By John F. McKenna (McJack): With his two impressive wins in 2011 in the Super Six Tournament over Arthur Abraham (32-3, 26 KO’s) last May and former World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) last Saturday night WBA/WBC/The Ring super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s) has been awarded the Fighter of the Year by Sports Illustrated.
Bunce: Froch needs to let his body recover from the hard fights he’s been in
By Sean McDaniel: Writer Steve Bunch feels that former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch has been in too many tough fights recently and he feels that this caught up with his last Saturday night in his loss to Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament. Bunce thinks Froch’s battles in the Super Six tournament, which he fought Andre Dirrell, Glen Johnson, Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham and Ward did a number on Froch by wearing him down.
Froch: The state of British boxing is good
By Scott Gilfoid: If you were a doctor examining the state of health of British boxing right now you would likely see it in need of life support after the losses of Dereck Chisora, Amir Khan, John Murray, David Haye, Ryan Rhodes, Carl Froch and Brian Magee. But Froch believes that British boxing is going swimmingly despite the string of loses.
Khan: Froch lost to Ward because he failed to get off to a quick start
By Sean McDaniel: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan advised former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch that if he wanted to have any luck against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in their Super Six tournament final bout, Froch would have to get off to a really quick start by taking it to Ward from the very get go.
Ward shows his class
By John F. McKenna (McJack): WBA/WBC/The Ring Super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13) demonstrated on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City why he is considered one of the elite fighters in boxing. His victory against former World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) proved to the boxing world that Ward is head and shoulders above anyone else at 168 pounds.
