Image: Froch: Ward is a boring fighterBy Scott Gilfoid: It looks like former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) is still licking his wounds after getting whipped by WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s) in the Super Six tournament finals bout last weekend.

Froch not only thinks that Ward is unbeatable, but he also sees him as boring. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Froch doesn’t think Ward has an entertaining style of fighting, and feels that U.S boxing fans weren’t pleased with how Ward fought against Froch.

It sounds like sour grapes from Froch. Ward may be a dull fighter in his mind but he whipped Froch with ease and left his face looking in bad shape by then end of the fight. It might make Froch feel better inside about his loss to Ward to say he has a boring style, but the fact is Ward has the Super Six trophy and Froch has to go back to the drawing board to try and fix his flaws.

Froch said afterwards that he was looking for an old fashioned tear up kind of fight and he felt disappointed that he didn’t get that with Ward. What Froch doesn’t seem to understand that the top level talents like Ward, Andre Dirrell and Lucian Bute aren’t brawlers like Froch.

They don’t take pride in taking hard shots to the head and answering back. It’s different at the top level, and Froch seems to be still stuck in the mindset of a domestic level fighter. Maybe he’ll figure it out in a couple of years that the world class fighters try not to get hit rather than seeking out a punishment.

Ward may not be an exciting fighter in Froch’s mind but he is very effective and American boxing fans did enjoy watching him school Froch. There was no disappointment among American boxing fans in watching Ward dismantle Froch last weekend as far as I’ve heard.
