Froch hasn’t fought at home in Nottingham since winning a controversial 12 round decision over Andre Dirrell in 2009. He hopes to fight either IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute or Mikkel Kessler next.

Froch said to the BBC Sport “I definitely want to fight back in England, back at home, that’s for sure. But I’ll let my promoter address that.”

Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn is trying to line up a fight against Bute next in a two-fight deal. It would be good that Froch could fight at home in Nottingham for one of the fights, but he’d still have to fight in Butes adopted country of Canada and it would be very hard for Froch to nick a decision over there. He’d have to look really impressive or score a knockout to be sure he gets a win.

Facing Bute next will be a tall order for Froch, as he’s not getting any rest from the hard fights he’s gone through in the Super Six tournament and will be coming into the two fights with Bute having a lot of wear and tear on him. In contrast, Bute has had things very easy in the past couple of years against the likes of Jean Paul Mendy, Jesse Brinkley, Glen Johnson, Edison Miranda, Librade Andrade and Fugencio Zuniga. Bute hasn’t taken many shots from those fights and has very little wear on him other than in sparring sessions.
