Carlos Molina getting Khan at the perfect time

Image: Carlos Molina getting Khan at the perfect timeBy William Mackay: They have a saying in boxing – “Timing is everything.” This may never be more true then with the Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) vs. Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) fight next month on December 15th at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Khan, at one time a two belt holder at 140, has now lost his last two fights and is coming off a terrible 4th round knockout loss to WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in a fight that took place last July.

To be sure, Molina has been carefully picked by Khan’s promoter and deemed a non-threat to Khan due to Molina’s small 5’6″ size and his long two year knockout drought. However, in this case Molina’s tiny size and long period in between knockouts may not matter because he’s facing a guy with a weak chin in Khan, and who may be even more susceptible to getting knocked out due to his knockout loss to Garcia.

Amir Khan in do or die fight against Carlos Molina

Image: Amir Khan in do or die fight against Carlos MolinaBy John Hill: On 15th December, Amir Khan returns to the ring to face Carlos Molina in what will be the most important fight of the Bolton boxers career. Coming off the back of losses in his last 2 fights would be hard enough, but the manner of his defeat against Danny Garcia in July has left many asking if the 25 year old is capable of mixing it at the highest level.

Khan was the hottest prospect in British boxing until a first round KO by little known Columbian Breidis Prescott in 2008, exposed how fragile his chin was. At that time things looked bleak for Khan with most boxing commentators asking serious questions about his future. Despite this, Freddie Roach saw something in Khan that he liked and took him under his wing.

Khan with a tremendous amount of pressure on him in Molina fight

Image: Khan with a tremendous amount of pressure on him in Molina fightBy William Mackay: On the surface it would appear that Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) doesn’t have much to worry about in his December 15th fight against Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

After all, Khan’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions has gone to the trouble of searching for and finding a small lightweight with no power for Khan to look good against and avoid getting knocked out again.

Khan told Radio Raheem at Maxboxing.com “I asked for the rematch [with Danny Garcia] but they didn’t want one. Hopefully Golden Boy can get me that rematch next year after the Molina fight.”

Molina: Khan has made a big mistake in fighting me

Image: Molina: Khan has made a big mistake in fighting meBy William Mackay: 5’6″ lightweight Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) is considered a big underdog against the taller, heavier, faster, stronger and much more experienced Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) in their December 15th match-up, but Molina feels he’s going to pull off a huge upset in this fight at Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA. The fight will be in Molina’s backyard, as he comes from Rosemead and he could have a substantial amount of fans giving him support for this fight.

Molina said at the recent press conference with Khan “He [Khan] made a big mistake [in fighting me]. I’m fighting here in my hometown. This is a coming out party.”

Carlos Molina: I’m going to hit Khan as hard as I can

Image: Carlos Molina: I'm going to hit Khan as hard as I canBy William Mackay: Unbeaten lightweight contender Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) knows what he’s got to do to beat the weak-chinned Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) and that’s to aim for his jaw and/or neck region and punch with as much power as possible to try and get him out of there on December 15th in their fight at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Molina has the 25-year-old Khan in a vulnerable point in his career with him coming off of a 4th round knockout loss to Danny Garcia last July, and before that losing a 12 round decision to Lamont Peterson last December.

Carlos Molina could put Khan out of his misery on December 15th

Image: Carlos Molina could put Khan out of his misery on December 15thBy William Mackay: The small light hitting 5’6″ lightweight Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) has been picked out to be the sacrificial lamb for former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan )26-3, 18 KO’s) to destroy and look in doing so on Showtime Sports on December 15th at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Molina, 26, isn’t supposed to win this fight because he’s got no power and hasn’t had a knockout in 2 years against weak opposition. However, when you’ve got a fighter with a weak chin to begin with who is coming off of a knockout loss like Khan is in his last bout against Danny Garcia last July, there’s no such thing as a guaranteed win.

Deontay Wilder to fight on Khan-Molina undercard on 12/15

Image: Deontay Wilder to fight on Khan-Molina undercard on 12/15By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) thus far is the only fight scheduled for the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina fight card on December 15th at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California.

The good news is that if the card stays this way, the 26-year-old Wilder will find himself on television in this Showtime televised fight in the United States. That would be a huge plus for the 6’7″ Wilder, because he’s got the talent to be one of the best heavyweights on the planet within a year and he needs to be seen by boxing fans.

Khan sees Molina fight leading to Mayweather and Pacquiao

Image: Khan sees Molina fight leading to Mayweather and PacquiaoBy William Mackay: Despite having been beaten in his last two fights and now being matched against a tiny lightweight in Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) in reversing gears on his sinking career, former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) still sees himself within striking distance of mega fights against the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Khan says he has to beat the little 5’6″ Molina, who Golden Boy Promotions found in the lightweight division, and then Khan wants to recapture both his IBF and WBA light welterweight divisions. This would mean that Khan will have to beat WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson, both of which defeated Khan recently.

Khan: Hunter wants me to become a boxer again

Image: Khan: Hunter wants me to become a boxer againBy William Mackay: Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) says his trainer Virgil Hunter wants to turn him back into a boxer rather than someone that gets excited and starts slugging it out with his opponents like Khan has foolishly done in the past. Khan sees himself as having transformed into a brawler after becoming overconfident from finding success.

Khan faces unbeaten Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) on December 15th in Khan’s first fight under the guidance of new trainer Hunter at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California.

Khan said to Sky Sports News “When you start winning fights so comfortably you can forget about the meaning of being a boxer. What Virgil wants me to do is go back to boxing again but be smart…sticking to a game plan because sometimes when I see red forget.”
