Molina has the 25-year-old Khan in a vulnerable point in his career with him coming off of a 4th round knockout loss to Danny Garcia last July, and before that losing a 12 round decision to Lamont Peterson last December.

Molina said to the latimes.com “I’ve got to fight my heart out, and I think I can make him [Khan] surprised by my speed and power, not just with one shot, but three or four in a row. I know he’ll be defensive-minded. I’m going to let my hands fly, try to hit him as hard as I can.”

If Molina is going to be trying to hit Khan three or four times, he can expect Khan to fall into his old tricks of grabbing him around the neck to bend him forward into an F shape or using his shoving like Khan has done in a number of his fights in the past. He’s not going to let Molina get his shots off if it means that he’s going to be getting hit on the inside, because Khan doesn’t have any inside skills whatsoever. He’s going to avoid that by moving, shoving, and grabbing. It’s going to be ugly if the fight is competitive.

I like the idea of Molina punching Khan as hard as he can, because that’s how you beat Khan. Breidis Prescott knocked Khan out, as did Garcia. And Marcos Maidana had Khan out on his feet and likely would have knocked him out had the referee Joe Cortez not gotten in the way of the action so many times in the last three rounds.
