Amir Khan to fight Carlos Molina on December 15th at the Los Angeles Sports Arena

Image: Amir Khan to fight Carlos Molina on December 15th at the Los Angeles Sports ArenaBy William Mackay: The Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) vs. Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) fight is now officially set for December 15th on Showtime and will be taking place at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, in California, according to RingTV. The fight will also be televised on Sky Sports 1HD in the UK.

Besides the Khan-Molina fight there’s a possibility that unbeaten former U.S. 2008 Olympic heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) could be on the undercard. Golden Boy Promotions are looking for an opponent to put with the 6’7″ Wilder and they’re reportedly looking for a quality name to put him in with. Let’s hope so because the Molina-Khan card REALLY needs some help with Khan vs. Molina being the main event.

Hunter believes he can take Khan back to the top of 140 lb division

Image: Hunter believes he can take Khan back to the top of 140 lb divisionBy William Mackay: After working out with former IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) for the first time recently, trainer Virgil Hunter believes he can take Khan back to the top of the light welterweight division so that Khan can recapture a world title or two. Hunter was recently hired by Khan to replace previous trainer Freddie Roach, who was let go after Khan lost back to back fights to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.

Khan, for whatever reason, asked Roach to spent more time working with him so that he could develop his defensive side of his gamer to a higher level. However, Roach couldn’t give Khan the time he needed and was subsequently let go.

Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina to be televised by Showtime, likely on December 15th

Image: Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina to be televised by Showtime, likely on December 15thBy William Mackay: Believe it or not, Showtime has reportedly bought the Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) vs. Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) mismatch and will be televising it on Showtime, likely on December 15th, according to Steve Kim. Stephen Espinosa, Showtime’s executive vice president of sports and event programming, has reportedly bought the Khan-Molina fight for some reason.

This is pretty shocking because this fight will undoubtedly be the main event and it’s not even close to being a top of the bill worthy fight. Khan has lost his last two fights, is no longer a world champion, and is fighting in experienced tiny 5’6″ lightweight in 26-year-old Carlos Molina. Like I’ve said before, this isn’t the junior middleweight contender Carlos Molina who has the same name, it’s the untested lightweight fringe contender Carlos Molina.

Khan takes on TINY lightweight Carlos Molina for December fight

Image: Khan takes on TINY lightweight Carlos Molina for December fightBy Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan finally announced who his December opponent will be and he’s choosing the little, light hitting 5’6″ Carlos Molina (17-0-1, 7 KO’s) instead of someone from his own division. A 5’6″ Molina vs. the 5’10” Khan equal huge mismatch.

The news of this fight has been greeted with happiness from a lot of clueless boxing fans who mistakenly think this is the JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT Carlos Molina, the one that recently fought James Kirkland. It’s not. I wish it was that version of Molina, but then again Khan would likely get dominated by that guy because he’s a really good fighter.
