Hittable Broner: A Quick Thought

broner222By Michael Byrne: WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) has dismissed Marcos Maidana’s power by claiming power is useless if you can’t land your punches, thereby claiming his speed and defensive capabilities will leave Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) missing all night in their fight tonight on Showtime at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas.

Former WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi was able to find Broner all night with beautiful combinations last June, although Broner did take the sting off a lot of these shots with his gloves. And Malignaggi is a much faster, accurate puncher than Maidana.

Broner: I’m flat-lining Maidana if he comes with some dumb s***

444(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) says he’ll knock challenger Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) out immediately in the 1st or 2nd rounds if he comes out aggressively tonight in their fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Broner feels that for Maidana to be able to hang around in this fight then he’s going to have to fight very carefully so that he doesn’t walk into anything big from him. In other words, Maidana will need to fight like Paulie Malignaggi did by staying mostly on the outside throwing jabs and trying to avoid Broner’s single pot shots.

Broner said at yesterday’s weigh-in “If he comes in there with some dumb s***, I’m flat-lining him. Easy money.”

Does Adrien Broner Have A World Class Chin?

665(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chester Rivers: A few months ago I penned my opinion about who I thought was the top 5 fighters under the age of 25. One name that was omitted was 24 year old Adrien Broner and the readers let me hear their opinions through negative comments and replies. This Saturday December 14, 2013, young Broner will have his chance to prove me wrong against hard hitting Argentine Marcos Maidana in San Antonio, Texas.

Some of you asked me why Broner’s name was omitted. I based my opinion largely on Broner’s limited resume against true punchers. Broner has only face one true power puncher Daniel Ponce De Leon. Against De Leon many feel Broner loss the fight because he struggled with De Leon’s power and awkward style.

My Two Cents: Marcos Maidana vs. Adrien Broner

999(Photo credit: Esther Lin) By Jay McIntyre: The powers that be were wise to arrange Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) to fight Marcos Maidana  (34-3, 31 KO’s) as his second fight at welterweight because when Marcos Maidana fights, no one is bored.

Adrien Broner fought and earned a hotly contested split decision win last June against Paulie Malignaggi (33-5, 7 KO’s) and is looking to establish some legitimacy to his claim in the shark tank that is the welterweight division. Jumping up two weight classes from lightweight (130 pounds) has left many to ponder whether or not Broner has the size and/or the speed to remain relevant.

Broner vs. Maidana weigh-in results

887(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) weighed in successfully at today’s weigh-in for what could be the toughest fight of his life on Saturday night against Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Broner weighed in at 144.4 lbs. and looked to be in as good a shape as he was in his last fight against Paulie Malignaggi last June.

With Broner, you really can’t tell whether him being in shape will help him for this particular fight because it’s going to come down to whether he can keep the harder punching Maidana off of him for 12 rounds. If Broner can’t do that, then he loses by knockout or decision.

Broner: I’m going to beat Maidana’s a** for sure!

Danger Zone group shot(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Allan Fox: WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) is incredibly confident of his chances to beat Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) this Saturday night and Broners sees this one ending early either in the 1st or the 2nd rounds. He thinks he’ll catch Maidana with a big shot and then get him out of their the way he’s done many of his previous opponents.

If Broner can accomplish that he’d be doing something that hasn’t been done before to Maidana through his 37 fights in the pro game. No one has been able to knock Maidana, but he has been down a number of times in fights against Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan.

Broner: If I beat [Maidana] to death, I beat him to death

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 12, 2013) –San Antonio solidified itself as a boxing powerhouse in 2013, so it’s only fitting that the home of the Alamo will host the final blockbuster boxing event of the year when Adrien “The Problem” Broner faces Marcos “El Chino” Maidana this Saturday, Dec. 14, live on SHOWTIME® (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Maidana plans on machine-gunning Broner with punches

Marcos Maidana(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) is going to go after WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) this Saturday night and hit him with everything in the kitchen in an effort to take his WBA title from him in their Showtime televised fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Maidana wants to hit Broner frequently with everything he has in hopes that Broner will wear down from being hit so hard so frequently. Maidana doesn’t have the hand speed to match Broner, but he’s power and a good work rate that could force Broner to throw more combinations rather than his normal post shots.

Ariza sees Broner being a tough fight for Maidana

maidana787By Allan Fox: Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach for former WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s), thinks he could be in for a tough fight this Saturday night against WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) at the Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Like a lot of people, Ariza sees Broner as being an unknown as far whether he can stand up a busy puncher like Maidana. To be sure, Broner has proven that he can stand up to the best at super featherweight and lightweight, but his performance against Paulie Malignaggi last June left a lot to be desired.
