Broner’s trainer has different strategy for Maidana rematch

broner452By Allan Fox: Former WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) tried to box Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) last December and ended up getting knocked down twice and beaten up in losing a 12 round unanimous decision to the Argentinian fighter.

Broner’s trainer Mike Stafford now has a different strategy for the rematch in April if takes place then. Stafford wants Broner to come out on the attack immediately and brawl with Maidana. With that strategy, Stafford thinks Broner will come out victorious over Maidana.

Adrien Broner: The loss to Maidana woke up a monster

broner7849999By Dan Ambrose: Unless Floyd Mayweather Jr. steps in to trip up his big plans, Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) will be getting his rematch against WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) on April 19th or the 26th. Broner exercised his rematch clause for his fight with Maidana, and he should be facing him next unless something unforeseen like the Mayweather fight being offered to Maidana wrecks his plans.

Broner extremely motivated to win this fight, and take back his title and his ruined credibility among boxing fans. It’s going to take an impressive win for Broner over Maidana to undo the damage caused by his loss to him last December. Broner loss the fight by the scores of 117-109, 115-109, 115-109. However, the scores don’t really tell you the whole picture about the fight, because Broner was knocked down twice and badly hurt.

Schaefer says Broner vs. Maidana rematch in April on Showtime

broner8989By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is saying that Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) will be fighting a rematch against WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) in April on Showtime. This news means that Floyd Mayweather Jr. can forget all about him getting little Mayweather, Broner, to fight on his undercard on May 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather had extended an invitation to the 24-year-old Broner a couple of days after his 12 round unanimous decision loss to Maidana last December. Mayweather also advised for Broner not to fight Maidana again and instead move down in weight to the light welterweight division to fight at that weight. It looks like Broner isn’t in the mood to follow Mayweather’s career instructions.

Broner: I’m not fighting anybody until I get Maidana again

By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) is stubbornly persisting with his goal of wanting to get a rematch against Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) in order for him to win back his WBA welterweight title and avenge his loss. Broner seems to be ignoring the massive amount of advice that he’s been receiving to steer clear of the hard hitting Argentinean fighter Maidana and instead put his energies into moving down to a weight class where he at least has a chance of being able to compete against the best like the light welterweight division.

Broner apologizes for running out of the ring after loss to Maidana

broner65523By Allan Fox: Former WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) finally came out tonight and apologized to fans for him running out of the ring without giving an interview or congratulation Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) after their fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Maidana won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision. In looking at Broner’s photo from today, he still has swelling on the right side of his face 5 days after the fight.

Broner stuck around long enough to hear the judges scores, and at that point he darted for the exit. While on his way to his dressing room, Broner and his entourage was pelted with trash by angry fans, who didn’t like the idea that Broner was taking off without giving an interview or speaking with Maidana.

Broner said on his instagram “This is the face of a 3x world champion in 3 different weight divisions. I am a man and first of all I want to say I’m sorry for running out on all the fans after my fight.

Maidana creates blueprint in how to beat Broner

broner010101By Allen Hmiel: Seeing the dismantling and defeat of Adrian Broner to the underdog Marcos Maidana last Saturday night brought back memories of another well known boxing star Naseem Hamed from England over a decade ago.

Broner and Hamed both had that air of superiority in thinking they were great fighters until they were exposed by good opposition.

Broner in losing for the first time to Maidana will now be vulnerable to every tough fighter out there. They’ll come after the once confidant Broner with fists flying looking to expose him in the same way that Maidana did last Saturday.

Viva Maidana

maidana7895By Jamie Eskdale: In the wake of Marcos Maidana dominating Adrien Broner we have seen a glut of articles on Adrien Broner and hardly any on Maidana.

We can all understand why. Broner has been hyped beyond comprehension. Given god like status by some despite proving very little. The signs have always been there of how Broner didn’t react well to pressure. Daniel Ponce De Leon perhaps preparing the blueprint. Welsh fighter Gavin Rees tried and had some success but inevitably failed, probably due to his lack of physical presence more than anything else.

Then there was Paulie Malignaggi, everyone seen the fight and opinion seems to be split, just like the judges on who won. I say Broner edged it with Malignaggi’s lack of power costing him. Though had it gone his way I wouldn’t have argued.

Broner exposed as a pretender: Karma’s a mother

broner6778787By Mr. Pennington: In the words of one the great trolls/blogger I once knew, well, well, well. On December 14th, we witnessed something that many predicted would happen. Adrien “the Problem” Broner was beaten by the now WBA welter weight champion Marcos “El Chino” Maidana.

To put this in perspective, you must accept that we are all in one way or another a troll/fan. That said, in Saturday’s main event there were many intricate scenarios played out before our eyes.

Maidana, Broner, Thurman, Malignaggi: Noise at 147

maidana67853By Michael Byrne: Last Saturday night the welterweight division saw some big action at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Marcos Maidana’s domination of WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) is capturing all of the headlines, and understandably so.

In a quick ‘something to think about’ before the fight, I offered the suggestion that if lightweight Gavin Rees was able to find Broner’s chin in their fight earlier this year in February, then the similar-but-wildly-superior Maidana would be able to do the same. However, whether you were one of the few who expected Maidana to become champion again or not, I think pretty much everyone was surprised by just how badly Broner was dominated.
