By Allan Fox: #2 WBA, Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) is gunning for newly crowned WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) after learning that he defeated Paulie Malignaggi last Saturday night by a 12 round split decision last Saturday night to capture his WBA title.
Maidana likes the match-up with the 5’7” Broner and he feels he can knock the Mayweather-like Broner out if that fight gets put together by Golden Boy Promotions. It likely will get made because Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer will be meeting with Maidana’s manager tomorrow to discuss making the fight.
Maidana said to ESPN Deportes “Many say that Broner is the new Mayweather, and now he’s the WBA welterweight champion. Then I want to fight him…hopefully they can make the fight…it would be a tough fight but I know I would knock him out.”
