Ariza giving Maidana a good chance of defeating Mayweather

maidana545By Chris Williams: WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) hit the lottery in getting picked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) to be his next opponent on May 3rd, but Maidana is already being dismissed as little more than the next sacrificial lamb by boxing fans due to his slow hands and feet. But Maidana’s strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, who built a name as being the one that turned Manny Pacquiao into a powerful welterweight, believes that Maidana is going to shock the world by beating Mayweather on May 3rd.

Ariza is going to be buildig up Maidana’s body and making him the same powerful fighter that he did in transforming Pacquiao from a lightweight to a welterweight.

Roach said he didn’t trust Ariza at all, and he asked him about what was inside the drinks but Ariza wouldn’t tell him.

“One of the reasons I don’t work with him [Ariza] anymore is he’s a little shady,” Roach said to Radio Raheem. “He used to give Manny a drink before workouts, and I asked him what was in the drink and he would never tell me. I told him I need to know what was in the drinks because you’re giving it to my fighter.

Ariza wants Pacquiao to take a tune-up before facing Marquez in 5th fight

ariza56By Chris Williams: Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning trainer for Manny Pacquiao, wants to put Pacquiao back on his old strength regimen that he had him on in the past, and then Ariza wants Pacquiao to fight a tune-up bout before facing Juan Manuel Marquez in a 5th fight next year.

Ariza thinks one of the major reasons that Pacquiao lost to Marquez was because Marquez was the better conditioning fighter due to his strength and conditioning coach Angel Hernandez building up Marquez’s during the training camp. Marquez focused more on building strength and developing his conditioning instead of using that time for boxing training. Marquez took a lot of time out of his boxing training in order to focus on building his strength, and Ariza feels that’s why he was able to knock Pacquiao down twice in the fight and stop him.

Ariza: Marquez beat Pacquiao with his strength and conditioning

Image: Ariza: Marquez beat Pacquiao with his strength and conditioningBy Dan Ambrose: Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach for Manny Pacquiao, gives a lot of credit to Juan Manuel Marquez’s strength coach Angel Hernandez for building up Marquez’s body and strength so that he could beat Pacquiao last Saturday night. Ariza believes that what helped Marquez more than his boxing training was the condition that he was in for the fight.

Ariza said to Philboxing.com “you cannot argue that science played the biggest factor in the victory of Marquez. That wasn’t old school boxing, that wasn’t Nacho Beristain’s, that was all science. It was his conditioning, his nutrition program, his strength and conditioning. It was all science.”
