David Price signs with Sauerland Promotion

price600By Aidan Neill: David Price (15-2, 13 KO’s) has reportedly agreed to sign with the Denmark based Sauerland Promotion, according to the Daily Mail. Price was left without a promoter after the retirement of the long-serving Frank Maloney and a swarm of promoters were reportedly interested in taking the heavy-handed heavyweight onto their books.

On the 15th of October, the Sauerland twitter feed (@sauerlandbros) set the rumour mill alight by tweeting “Major UK signing to be announced by #teamsauerland at a media lunch in London on Monday #guesswho”. If it is Price, as expected, it would be a big move into the UK market for Sauerland Promotions who have a reputable stable of continental fighters.

Booth sees Groves beating Froch

booth343By Scott Gilfoid: Adam Booth, the trainer for unbeaten 168 lb. contender George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s), believes his fighter is going to handle IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) in their upcoming fight in November or December. Booth said he wouldn’t have allowed Groves to take the fight if he didn’t believe that he had what it takes to whip the 36-year-old Froch.

Both said to Sky Sports “I would never accept a fight for a fighter of mine if I didn’t truly believe, no sales spiel, truly believe he had what it took to win the fight. I feel so confident in George Groves right now that I can’t wait for his fight against Carl…when he [Groves] wins, the light is going to be that much brighter on him.”

Haye to possibly retire; meeting with Booth next week to decide future

haye2222By Scott Gilfoid: Well, so much for notion of former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) taking the mandatory route to get a world title shot against one of the heavyweight champions. Haye is leaning in the direction of retirement now, and will be meeting his trainer Adam Booth next week to decide on what’s best for him.

Haye recently said he was going to use that method to get a title shot after being ignored by both the Klitschko brothers in getting an undeserved title shot.

Haye is now reportedly having second thoughts about going through the long process of working his way up through the mandatory route given the amount of time that he’d likely have to wait before he eventually was made the mandatory.

Aydin needs to dump Adam Booth

aydin2By Scott Gilfoid: Welterweight knockout artist Selcuk Aydin (23-2, 17 KO’s) looked worse than he ever has before in losing by a 10 round majority decision to the good but VERY beatable Jesus Soto-Karass (27-8-3, 17 KO’s) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aydin looked completely lost with his new trainer Adam Booth.

Under Booth’s guidance, Aydin went from an exciting slugger to a cautious boxer/puncher, and he looked just awful in making that transformation. Aydin was much better before with his previous trainer, I think. I don’t know what Booth was trying to transform Aydin into, but sure didn’t work because he looked completely befuddled out there.
