By Eric Thomas: A potentially interesting card is in the world for February 4th with WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31 KO’s) defending his title against an opponent still to be determined. On the undercard, Nonito Donaire (27-1, 18 KO’s) will be moving up in weight to fight for the vacant World Boxing Council super bantamweight title against former champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-1-1, 18 KO’s).

Donaire vs. Vazquez Jr. a possibility for March 3rd for vacant WBO super bantamweight title
Salido vs. Lopez II and Arce vs. Vazquez II possible for November on Showtime
By Dan Ambrose: A November rematch between WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23 KO’s) and Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27 KO’s) and World Boxing Organization super bantamweight champion Jorge Arce (57-6-2, 44 KO’s) and Wildredo Vazquez (20-1, 17 KO’s) are a possibility, according to Dan Rafael. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is looking to set up these rematches for one huge card on Showtime. If Arum can pull this off it would be one of the best cards of the year.
Arce takes Vazquez Jr. into the deep rounds and stops him
By Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Jorge Arce (57-6-2, 44 KO’s) exposed World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (20-1-1, 17 KO’s) last Saturday night, handing Vazquez Jr. his first loss of his five-year pro career by stopping him in the 12th round with a flurry of shots that ended with Vazquez’s corner stepping into the ring to get the fight halted. The bout was officially stopped by referee Joe Cortez at 0:55 of the 12th.
Arce-Vazquez Jr, Pavlik-Lopez, Alvarado-Narh tonight: Three opportunities to go to the refrigerator
By Chris Williams: Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime – If you were hoping that tonight’s expensive $55 pay-per-view card with Manny Pacquiao taking on an old Shane Mosley would have a good undercard packaged along with it, I’m afraid you might be a tad bit disappointed at what you’ll be getting. I don’t know about you but I’m not in the least bit interested in the Pacquiao-Mosley undercard fights – not one.
Pavlik-Lopez, Vazquez-Arce & Alvarado-Narh this Saturday on Pacquiao vs. Mosley undercard
By Chris Williams: This Saturday’s $55 pay-per-view card headed by Manny Pacquiao vs. 39-year-old Shane Mosley is one of the weaker ones within memory. Other than the main event between Pacquiao and Mosley, which looks to be a terrible mismatch, the undercard doesn’t have much going for it in terms of compelling fights.
Will Jorge Arce upset Wilfredo Vazquez Jr?
By Gerardo Granados: After watching Victor Ortiz upset Andre Berto to gain the WBC welterweight title, and Orlando Salido upset Juan Manuel Lopez to gain the WBO featherweight title, some friends asked me if Jorge Arce (T64-W56(43)-L6(3)-D2) will be able to defeat the younger champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. ( T21-W30(17)-L0-D1). Erik Morales put up a big effort against “Chino” Maidana but the fight judges declared Marcos as the winner, although it was great to see a veteran engage against a young lion the way “El Terrible” did.
Vazquez Jr. vs. Arce on Pacquiao-Mosley undercard on 5/7
By Eric Thomas: Unbeaten WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (20-0-1, 17 KO’s) will be making his 3rd defense of his World Boxing Organization bout on May 7th against former IBF light flyweight champion and current #1 WBO contender Jorge Arce (56-6-2, 43 KO’s) on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jorge Arce vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. on Pacquiao-Mosley undercard on 5/7
By Chris Williams: Bob Arum just gave you one more reason to purchase the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight card on May 7th, by adding a title fight between an old tired Jorge Arce vs. WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. to the card. Frankly, I’m not at all interested in seeing that mismatch.
Sonsona vs. Vazquez this Saturday
By Dave Lahr: Former World Boxing Organization super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona (14-0-1, 12 KO’s) will face Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (17-0-1, 14 KO’s) this Saturday night for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Both of these fighters are terribly flawed at this point in their young careers, and it’s hard to imagine that the winner of this fight will be able to hold down the WBO title for more than a defense or two without losing it to someone. Sonsona, 19, is a skinny slugger who got by on his power alone while fighting at super flyweight.
