Fury: Chisora is going to get a beating twice as bad for pulling out last time

fury78By Scott Gilfoid: Earlier today it was announced that the WBO heavyweight eliminator bout between Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury, which was supposed to have taken place last month, has been rescheduled for November 22nd in London, UK.

Chisora pulled out of the fight last time complaining of a hand injury. Fury still doesn’t buy the excuse, and feels that Chisora got a case of cold feet. At any rate, Fury wants to make Chisora pay for pulling out when he gets him in the ring on 11/22.

Chisora vs. Fury rescheduled for November 22nd at ExCel in London, UK

fury43By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweights Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora will be facing each other on November 22nd in a WBO heavyweight title eliminator at the ExCel Arena in London, UK.

They were supposed to face each other last month but the fight had to be postponed due to Chisora suffering a thumb injury while sparring mammoth 6’7”, 280+ pound Belarusian heavyweight Alexander Ustinov to get ready for the Fury fight.

Fury then attempted to go ahead with the card by scheduling to fight Ustinov, but then he pulled out of the card the day of the fight due to a family emergency.

Fury and Chisora will be fighting for the European as well as the vacant British heavyweight straps in addition to the bout being a WBO heavyweight eliminator.

Fury still under contract for Chisora rematch, fight to be rescheduled for possibly October

fury9999By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KOs) spoke a little too soon about him never agreeing to fight Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KOs) again in the future, because Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren says that Fury is still under contract to fight him.

Warren plans on rescheduling the rematch between the fighters as soon as he finds out how soon Chisora will be able to resume training. He’s got an injured thumb on his left hand that needs to heal before he can get back in the ring to resume training for his rematch with Fury. Warren mentioned

Fury withdraws from Ustinov fight due to Uncle’s illness

fury544By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KOs) has pulled out of his fight scheduled for tonight against the tough and dangerous Alexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KOs) due to his Uncle Hughie suffering an illness and subsequent hospitalization.

Rather than continue on and taking the fight with Ustinov anyway, Fury has decided to pull out of the fight.

As you would expect, fans are shocked, confused, suspicious and angry at Fury pulling out of the fight. Some fans think the worst, believing Fury pulling out of the fight to avoid a dangerous opponent in Ustinov. Fury is obviously going to be slammed by fans over this withdrawal, especially given the stick that he gave Dereck Chisora for pulling out of his own fight due to an injury.

This is obviously disappointing news to the extreme especially given that Fury was taking on by far the most dangerous opponent of his career in 6’7 ½” Ustinov. After years and years of mismatches involving Fury facing over-matched weak opposition, he was finally facing someone that had a 50-50 chance of beating him. Of course, there are far better heavyweights than Ustinov in the top 15, but he was a decent fringe contender with talent comparable to Fury’s own.

Profile: Alexander Ustinov

fury0000111By Gav Duthie: As Arnie Schwarzenegger said in Kindergarten cop when asked “So who are you man” he replies I’m the party pooper”. Alexander Ustinov at just 4 days notice has the potential to ruin Tyson Fury’s party as the Brit faces the impressive Belorussian on Saturday.

Profile: Fighting background

Ustinov 29-1 (21) has fighting in his blood. He doesn’t have any boxing amateur record to speak of but boasts a “Kickboxing” record of 53-9-1-1 (31). He also fought a couple of fights of MMA and in total won 9 championship titles over kickboxing and Muay Thai disciplines and was never stopped.

Weights: Fury 257, Ustinov 280

ustinovBy Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KOs) weighed in at 257 pounds today at the weigh-in for his fight on Saturday night against replacement opponent Alexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KO’s) at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, UK.

What’s interesting here is that the 37-year-old Ustinov, who usually looks kind of flabby, appeared to be in better shape than Fury in weighing in at 280 pounds. Fury had visible fat around the sides of his waist.

Fury: Once I detonate on Ustinov, he’s not getting up

fury555By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KOs) is talking tough about knocking out his new opponent Alexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KOs) this Saturday night at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, UK. Fury, 25, points out that he’s facing Ustinov without any preparation for him at all in terms of sparring partners and training.

Fury says he hasn’t sat down to watch any of Ustinov’s fights. Instead, he’s just going to come out there and treat it like it’s a backyard rumble when he gets inside the ring with the big 300 pound fighter from Belarus.

Ustinov is taking the injured Dereck Chisora’s place for the fight. He was gracious enough to come in and take the fight at the last minute.

Why Tyson Fury Should Have Chosen Antonio Tarver as a Replacement

fury78By James Harrison: After news that Dereck Chisora had dropped out of his clash with Tyson Fury this Saturday, Antonio Tarver offered to fill in for Chisora via Twitter. Tyson Fury overlooked Antonio Tarver, and chose Alexander Ustinov, which could prove to be a mistake for several reasons.

The first reason he should have taken this fight is because Tarver is not fight-ready. He didn’t go through a training camp for this fight, and hasn’t been in camp since November of 2013. Tarver is also the naturally smaller man as he had to climb to heavyweight (from 168 lbs.), whereas Fury (who’d enjoy a seven-inch height advantage over Tarver) made his professional debut weighing over 250 lbs.

Fury: I want Stiverne after Ustinov; Chisora lost his chance of ever fighting me again

fury5667By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) says that Dereck Chisora burned his bridges with him pulling out of his scheduled fight with him this Saturday night in Manchester, and that he’s never going to attempt to put together another fight with the 30-year-old Chisora again.

Fury says he’s moved on with his career and that Chisora lost his chance. Fury will be facing replacement opponent #8 IBF, #9 WBA Alexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KOs) this Saturday night in what Fury calls a “50-50 fight” at the Phones 4U Arena.

Ustinov could cause Fury problems

ustinov545By Gareth Steven Mills: As far as last minute replacements go, Belarusian Alexander Ustinov is one of the better opponents that could have been picked for Tyson Fury this Saturday night. With the injury to Dereck Chisora and him having to pull out of their scheduled fight, it left Tyson Fury frustrated, opponent-less and not having fought for nearly a year and a half.

There must have been a pretty long list of heavyweights that would jump at the chance to make a name for themselves and take on Fury, especially considering that in some of his previous fights he has been knocked down and has, at times, looked vulnerable. When I heard the news that his promoters were going to look for another opponent, I imagined that they would have picked an opponent that would not be a risk to Fury, but in Alexander Ustinov I see an opponent that could cause problems for Fury and is by far the best opponent he has faced.
