By MikeS: Right on the heels of a heavyweight packed card featuring Derek Chisora, Tyson, and Hughie Fury, the division is just heating up for Spring. There are five great match-ups in the books with another couple on the way soon. There are crossroads match ups, classic boxer vs. puncher, as well as young fighters coming up and trying to make their mark on the division. Lets take a look at these match-ups.
Saturday, March 15th will give us a look at 2 exciting possibilities. The first pairing is former World Title Challenger Tomasz Adamek 49(29)-2 vs. young Vyacheslav ‘Czar’ Glazkov 16(11)-0-1 on NBCSN. The pair were supposed to face in November, but the fight was delayed because of an illness suffered by Adamek, and while Glazkov stayed busy and scored a workman-like but unimpressive win over former cruiserweight Garrett Wilson 13-6-1, Adamek has been inactive since his unanimous decsion win over game but faded Dominick Guinn 34-9-1 last August.
By Allan Fox: A fight between former two time world champion Tomasz Adamek (49-2, 29 KO’s) and unbeaten #13 WBO, heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings (17-0, 9 KO’s) is possible for later on this year in a fight could be televised by HBO, according to Dan Rafael. HBO hasn’t said whether they’ll agree to televise the fight or not at this point.
By Jim Dower: Middleweight contender #6 IBF, #10 WBC, Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) may have set himself up with a title shot against WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin by destroying the hard hitting Saul Roman (37-10, 31 KO’s) in a 1st round knockout in a night full of mismatches on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
By Eric Thomas: Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KO’s) will be facing 38-year-old Dominick Guinn (34-9-1, 23 KO’s) in a fight that promises to be an ugly mismatch at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut.
By Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KO’s) will be facing Tony Grano (20-3-1, 16 KO’s) on August 3rd in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut. Adamek, #10 WBC, #11 IBF, saw his heavyweight ranking drop recently after he chose not to fight unbeaten Kubrat Pulev in an IBF heavyweight eliminator bout for a shot against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
