Deal close for Arreola-Stiverne II

arreola888By Mike S: Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola and Bermaine Stiverne are close to locking horns again in Villahermosa, Mexico this June in a fight that will be reportedly be aired by HBO in the States. Stiverne won the first meeting by a wide UD after smashing Arreola’s nose and dropping him in the third round. Arreola was in flabby condition AGAIN, and seemed to just sit back and wait for something to happen. It never did.

Since then Arreola has made a commitment to his conditioning and body weight and looked much better in his first round TKO of the glass chinned Seth Mitchell last September.  Stiverne, strung along by Vitali Klitschko and the WBC will have been out of the ring for well over a year bay the time this rematch comes around. While it is normally not wise to remain inactive for that long, there is a pretty obvious reason why Stiverne chose not to risk his no.1 ranking while in wait.

A busy Spring for the Heavyweight Division: Adamek-Glazkov, Wilder-Scott, More!

deontay73872By MikeS: Right on the heels of a heavyweight packed card featuring Derek Chisora, Tyson, and Hughie Fury, the division is just heating up for Spring. There are five great match-ups in the books with another couple on the way soon. There are crossroads match ups, classic boxer vs. puncher, as well as young fighters coming up and trying to make their mark on the division. Lets take a look at these match-ups.

Saturday, March 15th will give us a look at 2 exciting possibilities. The first pairing is former World Title Challenger Tomasz Adamek 49(29)-2 vs. young Vyacheslav ‘Czar’ Glazkov 16(11)-0-1 on NBCSN. The pair were supposed to face in November, but the fight was delayed because of an illness suffered by Adamek, and while Glazkov stayed busy and scored a workman-like but unimpressive win over former cruiserweight Garrett Wilson 13-6-1, Adamek has been inactive since his unanimous decsion win over game but faded Dominick Guinn 34-9-1 last August.
