Universum promotes former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (27-1-1, 17 KO’s), who defeated Kali Meehan by a 12 round unanimous decision last year in May 2010 to become the mandatory challenger for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye.

Chagaev, who was diagnosed with a case of hepatitis B in the past, submitted his medial records and the BBBofC is determining whether he’s clear of the disease.

Chagaev is first choice, obviously, given he’s the #1 mandatory challenger. However, if he’s not given the okay by the British Boxing Board of Control to enter the UK due to a past case of hepatitis B, then Haye will choose between Povetkin and Boytsov.

By Sean McDaniel: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye may be able to avoid facing his number #1 mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev if the British Boxing Board fail to approve him. The Board is currently waiting on the 32-year-old Chagaev’s medical reports to make a decision whether they’ll permit Chagaev to enter the UK to fight Haye. Chagaev reportedly had Hepatitis B in the past in 2007, and this medical problem got in the way of Chagaev fighting Nikolay Valuev in 2009.

Chagaev, 32, reportedly had Hepatitis B in the past, and if that illness is still lingering inside of him, the BBBofC will not let Chagaev fight Haye inside the UK.

Haye isn’t happy that Wladimir has decided to fight Dereck Chisora on April 30th for a couple of reasons.

By William Mackay: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) has found the huge mega fight that he’s been looking for in his career with his September fight against top contender Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 KO’s) in Poland. According to reports, the Adamek-Klitschko fight has the potential of selling out one of the huge soccer stadiums in Poland. Wladimir, 34, has no problems fighting in Poland in front of what will likely be a hostile crowd.
