Wladimir vs. Adamek will be a huge fight: Haye left out in the cold looking for Chagaev fight

By William Mackay: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) has found the huge mega fight that he’s been looking for in his career with his September fight against top contender Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 KO’s) in Poland. According to reports, the Adamek-Klitschko fight has the potential of selling out one of the huge soccer stadiums in Poland. Wladimir, 34, has no problems fighting in Poland in front of what will likely be a hostile crowd.

The fight will probably end up on HBO in the United States, and it’s going to be huge there, as well as in Germany and Poland. Wladimir was primed to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye but the fight fell apart when Wladimir decided to take a tune-up bout in April. Haye now is forced to fight mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev in May. Some people think Haye will try and duck out of the fight and take on another older heavyweight like the ones Haye has been feasting on since he turned pro.

At any rate, the fight against Chagaev likely won’t be anything near to what Wladimir has going for him in his fight with Adamek. Haye would do well for himself if he chose to fight Vitali Klitschko, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Haye may have mentioned that he was interested in fighting both of the Klitschko brothers before retiring in October, but that seems to have been nothing more than lip service. Haye isn’t saying anything about wanting to put together a fight with Vitali now that the bout with Wladimir has gone up in smoke.

A Vitali-Haye bout would be just as successful, if not more, than a Wladimir-Haye bout. Haye’s silence about a bout with Vitali suggests that Haye doesn’t like his chances against Vitali and prefers not to have to face that kind of risky no win fight.
