Broner: I know I can beat Maidana

broner111By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (29-1, 22 KOs) has rebuilt his career since his disappointing loss to Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) last year in December. Broner has won his last two fights, albeit against weak opposition.

Broner feels that he’s ready to face Maidana in a rematch, and he feels confident that he’ll defeat him when the time comes if they wind up facing each other again.

The problem that Broner has is the two fighters are now fighting in different divisions, as Broner is fighting at 140 and Maidana 147.

Maidana wants Pacquiao fight

maidana578By Jim Dower: Marco Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) is coming off of consecutive decision losses to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, but that isn’t keeping the 31-year-old Maidana from wanting to get another big money fight.

Maidana has his sights set on getting a fight against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, according to his trainer Robert Garcia. Whether Maidana has a chance of getting that fight with Pacquiao straightaway is another question altogether.

It seems reasonable to assume that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum won’t bother matching him against Maidana due to his recent defeats. Arum would have to know that it wouldn’t be a marketable fight if he matched Pacquiao against Maidana.

When did Maidana reach the Mayweather /Pacquiao standard?

maidana8By Danny Esch: News has come out already that “Chino” Maidana has “allegedly” turned down a fight with Keith “One Time” Thurman for the third time after Thurman’s victory over Leonard Bundu. I did say for the THIRD time that “EL CHICA” Maidana has turned down the fight which was first introduced to him in 2012 were team Maidana signed the deal but “allegedly “upon viewing Thurman tapes and viewing his fight record and his K.O. ratio they backed out of the deal.

Now would it surprise you that Marcos Maidana is actually ranked lower than Keith Thurman on the WBC, WBA, and the RING magazine ratings. The WBC has Thurman ranked as “WBC Interim Champion” behind Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana is ranked number 5 as well as Leonard Bundu ranked at number 3 and Robert Guerrero ranked at number 8. The WBA has Keith Thurman ranked at number 1 followed my Marcos Maidana at number 3 and Leonard Bundu at number 4 and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero did not make the list.

Thurman not in the cards for Maidana

thurman78888By Jim Dower: Interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman won the battle in defeating European level fighter Leonard Bundu last Saturday night in winning a 12 round unanimous decision, but Thurman’s timid fighting style ultimately may have lost him a chance at getting a bigger fight against former two division world champion Marcos Maidana who was ringside at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada for the fight.

Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi thinks Thurman looked bad in the fight, and he was surprised that he had the nerve to call Maidana out after the fight with the boxing fans booing Thurman at ringside.

Thurman wants Maidana fight

maidana4566By Jim Dower: Fresh off his less than thrilling 12 round unanimous decision win over 40-year-old Leonard Bundu last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (24-0, 21 KOs) now says he wants a fight against Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) next in 2015.

Thurman was booed constantly for all the movement that he made against Bundu. It was not an entertaining fight because Thurman would immediately back away and start circling the ring at the slightest hint of aggression from Bundu.

Broner calls out Pacquiao and Maidana

broner67By Dan Ambrose: Former three division world champion Adrien Broner (29-1, 22 KOs) is calling out Marcos Maidana and Manny Pacquiao for a fight. Broner wants one of them to sign a contract to face him.

Broner has done precious little since his loss to Maidana last year, and that’s going to make it difficult for him to get a fight against either Pacquiao or Maidana at this point.

“This the face I’m go have when that hard hitting [expletive] CHINO or PAC-MAN sign a contract to fight me.

Provodnikov targeting Maidana, Matthysse and Danny Garcia for next fight on March 28th

provodnikov034By Dan Ambrose: #2 WBO light welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17 KOs) will be back in the ring in the next three months on March 28th in a fight that will take place at a still to be determined venue in the United States.

Provodnikov, 30, is hoping that he can get one of the following fighters to agree to face him: Marcos Maidana, Danny Garcia or Lucas Matthysse. The problem is that those fighters are managed by Al Haymon, and it’s highly doubtful that Haymon will bother setting them up for a dangerous fight against a slugger like Provodnikov when there’s not much of any upside.

Maidana wants Pacquiao fight

maidana555666By Chris Williams: Former WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) is coming off of back to back defeats to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, but Maidana reportedly still wants to fight WBO 147lb champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KOs) if possible.

Maidana would be an upgrade for Pacquiao from the guys he’s been facing in Tim Bradley and Brandon Rios. He would definitely be an upgrade over Pacquiao’s next opponent Chris Algieri, who will be facing the 35-year-old Pacquiao on November 22nd in Macau, China.

broner9991By Dan Ambrose: Former three division world champion Adrien Broner (29-1, 22 KOs) says that Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) doesn’t want to fight him again due to the tough time he gave him in losing to Maidana last year in December.
