When did Maidana reach the Mayweather /Pacquiao standard?
By Danny Esch: News has come out already that “Chino” Maidana has “allegedly” turned down a fight with Keith “One Time” Thurman for the third time after Thurman’s victory over Leonard Bundu. I did say for the THIRD time that “EL CHICA” Maidana has turned down the fight which was first introduced to him in 2012 were team Maidana signed the deal but “allegedly “upon viewing Thurman tapes and viewing his fight record and his K.O. ratio they backed out of the deal.
Now would it surprise you that Marcos Maidana is actually ranked lower than Keith Thurman on the WBC, WBA, and the RING magazine ratings. The WBC has Thurman ranked as “WBC Interim Champion” behind Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana is ranked number 5 as well as Leonard Bundu ranked at number 3 and Robert Guerrero ranked at number 8. The WBA has Keith Thurman ranked at number 1 followed my Marcos Maidana at number 3 and Leonard Bundu at number 4 and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero did not make the list.
Now finally Ring Magazine has Keith “ONE TIME “Thurman ranked at number 7 followed by Robert Guerrero 8 and Marcos”El Chino” Maidana at 9 all ranking outlets rank Maidana lower than Keith Thurman across the board. I am confused now because I don’t understand how Maidana has made it to a “Mayweather/Pacquiao” level where he can just turn down fights like he is a PPV star who has sold out arenas or grossed 1 million plus pay per view buys like May & Pac or Cotto for that matter have done.
I believe Maidana is a really good fighter who put on a tough performance against Floyd Mayweather but at the end of the day he still lost twice especially according to the punch stat numbers he did worse the second time out. I believe the 5 minutes of fame has sent Maidana’s head to the clouds and now he is becoming a “DIVA” riding the wheels of back to back losses against respectively the best fighter today Floyd Mayweather and once again I said LOSSES not wins. The only claim to fame Maidana really had to get the Mayweather fight was a win over Adrien Broner who jumped from 130/135 to 147 to face a light punching Paulie Malignaggi which could have gone both ways and then an extreme hard punching Marcos Maidana one extreme to another.
Since the Mayweather fight I haven’t heard anyone clamoring or scratching and biting to face Marcos Maidana accept Keith “ONE TIME “Thurman and the excuse “No One has heard of Thurman” has died and now the new excuse is a ridiculous one from the Maidana camp “Thurman had a bad performance because the crowd boooed him”. I will say to the people who say “Thurman is over rated” or “Thurman hasn’t fought anyone” think about this if Floyd “Money” Mayweather had the same vigor and confidence as Keith Thurman does, do you think the Manny Pacquiao fight would have been made already years ago?
Thurman repeats his slogan all the time “I have an O and I aint afraid to let it go” so if Floyd Mayweather thought on that level how many other fights would we have seen by now? Marcos “El Chino “Maidana lost to Floyd Mayweather two times, he lost to Devon Alexander and Amir “King” Khan once, and now he has been placed on a high pedestal that Thurman an Undefeated young lion with an almost perfect K.O. ratio tough explosive fighter with power in both hands can’t even reach. To the casual and “boxer” fans reading what else do you want this young man Keith Thurman to do he has all the skills at a young age he normally puts on a good show every time he fights he gets knockouts which Mayweather/Pacquiao have fallen short of and he is not afraid to face anyone what else do you want him to do just to get a “named” fighter?
Marcos Maidana is a good fighter but he has no reason to reject Keith Thurman 3 times already and if you fans claim Thurman doesn’t deserve it than explain to all of us why Chris Algieri deserved the Manny Pacquiao fight or why Rod Salka deserved a Danny Garcia fight or even Robert Guerrero deserving a Mayweather fight and don’t say because of Berto. When you guys scream DUCK or a fighter is DUCKING don’t just sling that expression to May/Pac also sling it to MAIDANA now because “DUCKING” works across the board for eveyone
