Mayweather – Pacquiao: Will there be respect?

Image: Mayweather - Pacquiao: Will there be respect?By Rusty Nate: I have been thinking about the hatred and abuse that seems to fly from bloggers and forum posters recently. Now don’t get me wrong I know that this happens regarding a lot of fighters in all divisions but let be honest it’s not been as intense as the age old battle between the “Pactards” and “Floydiots”.

Unlike a lot of sports where a physical participation as a child causes the love, like Football or Tennis, boxing is a sport that can be equally loved by a person that has been no where near a ring. Everyone has a reason they fall in love with boxing, it might be that you saw Rocky 1 in the cinema in 1976 and you thought that it was possible to go from rags to riches, maybe you were watching the day that Mohammed Ali defied all logic and knocked out the unbeatable monster in Zaire or then again you might be from a boxing family background and so there was no chance of you escaping the clutches of the sport!

Marco Antonio Barrera wants to fight Khan before retiring

Image: Marco Antonio Barrera wants to fight Khan before retiringBy William Mackay: Former three division world champion Marco Antonio Barrera (67-7, 44 KO’s) is interested in avenging his defeat at the hands of Amir Khan from 2009 before retiring from the sport. Barrera, now 38, is still bothered that he lost by a 5th round technical decision to Khan in a fight where Barrera was cut badly from a headbutt in the opening round and the fight was allowed to go on just long enough for it not to be called a no contest.

Barrera vs. Morales 4 in the summer?

By Eric Thomas: According to the latest boxing news coming down the pike, 34-year-old Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO’s) and 37-year-old and Marco Antonio Barrera (67-7, 44 KO’s) could be squaring off for a 4th fight on July 30th. Morales recently showed interest in the fight and Barrera, who hasn’t done much in the past three years, immediately liked the idea and said he’d like to do the fight. Morales recently gave knockout artist Marcos Maidana all he could handle earlier this month in a close 12 round decision loss on April 9th. Morales showed brief glimpses of what he used to be as a fighter despite tiring and losing the last two rounds of the fight to come up short. Morales suffered a closed right eye that kept him from seeing out of the eye from the 3rd round on.

If Morales beats Maidana we may see Morales-Barrera 4

By Dan Ambrose: There is a very good chance that we may see a fourth fight between Erik Morales (51-6, 35 KO’s) and 37-year-old Marco Antonio Barrera (67-7, 44 KO’s) if Morales beats Maidana on April 9th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Maidana is a heavy favorite to win the fight, however, but Morales has a chance to win if he can somehow out-box the hard hitting Maidana. If Morales can get the crowd behind him early on against Maidana, he could get the judges’ to lean in his favor and win a controversial decision.

Does Marco Antonio Barrera have a real chance to become a four division champion?

By Gerardo Granados: Marco Antonio Barrera aims to become the first Mexican fighter to conquer titles in four weight divisions, but does he really has a good chance to achieve it? Fellow countrymen Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and Fernando Montiel have the same goal, but it seems like that the only ones to have a real chance are either Marquez or Montiel, neither Morales or Barrera are still in prime physical conditions to compete against the top 140 pounders such as Amir Khan or Timothy Bradley.

Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Jose Arias: Barrera looked strong

By Francisco Hernandez: The decade of 2000 will probably be remembered in boxing history as the comeback of retired boxers. Fighters are no longer learning skills; they don’t know the art of boxing, there are plenty of fighters but few real boxers. Most fighters today are done in boxing before they learn how to throw a good jab, that is why retired masters like Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Bernard Hopkins, Evander Holyfield are tempted to come back, they don’t see any skill or talent today and believe they have a fighting chance to win despite their old age or lost reflexes.
