By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) will be making his first appearance since his loss to Timothy Bradley when he faces light welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) next month on June 25th at the Family Arena in Saint Charles, Missouri. Alexander, 24, will be fighting in front of a home audience in Saint Louis, so if the fight goes to the cards, Alexander will have a good chance of winning.

By Dan Ambrose: Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) took the fight to Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) last January and seemed to make him quit in the 10th due to his heavy pressure. The fight was technically halted in the 10th round after Alexander had a problem recovering from a headbutt in the round. It looked as if Alexander simply quit and didn’t want anymore of Bradley. The fight then went to the judges and Bradley won by a 10th round technical decision.

By Jason Kim: HBO’s fight card on June 25th is going to be one of their better ones of the year with former WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) facing knockout artist Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s), IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelus Bundrade (30-4, 18 KO’s) defending his title against challenger Sechew Powell (26-2, 15 KO’s), IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (22-0, 12 KO’s) making his third defense of his title against Yusaf Mack (29-3-2, 17 KO’s) and 6’6″ heavyweight contender Ray Austin (28-5-4, 18 KO’s) taking on the hard hitting Bermane Stiverne (20-1, 19 KO’s) in a WBC title eliminator bout. The fights will be taking place at the Family Center Arena, in Saint Louis, Missouri.

By Dan Ambrose: Boxing fans may be excited at the prospect of seeing Argentinian knockout artist Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) face WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) in what would likely be an exciting fight – at least on paper – because of the way that his fight would mimic Khan’s fight with another Argentinian fighter Marcos Maidana. Unfortunatley, a fight between Matthysse and Khan will likely never occur, because Khan’s management aren’t eager to put him in with sluggers for some reason.

By Dan Ambrose: After watching Argentinian light welterweight knockout artist Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) easily dispatch the hard-hitting DeMarcus Corley (37-16-1, 22 KO’s) in an 8th round TKO in Argentina, I have no doubts in my mind that Matthysse is more than good enough to beat WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan. Matthysse looks like a better version of Marcos Maidana, with better defense and a better inside game than Maidana.
