Hearn pushing for Khan-Brook fight in June 2016

khan777By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBF welterweight belt holder Kell Brook, says he had a recent conversation with Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) about a potential fight between Khan and Brook for mid-2016, and Hearn is starting to feel confident that he can make that fight.

He’s now looking to get the 29-year-old Khan to commit to the fight with Brook so that they can start marketing the fight and preparing for it. Hearn old Khan that Brook is going to be moving up to the junior middleweight division after two more fights so that Brook can look to capture a title in that division.

Hearn thinks Khan is wasting time chasing Pacquiao

hearn7890By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan has put his career temporarily in a holding pattern while waiting to see if his management can negotiate a fight with Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao for April 9th next year.

It’s not looking promising for the 28-year-old Khan, though. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has been mentioning two of his Top Rank stable fighters (Terence Crawford and Timothy Bradley) that he’s keen to match against Pacquiao for his final fight of his career on 4/9, and that would seem to be the likely direction that the 83-year-old American promoter will take Pacquiao in for his next fight.

Hearn doubts Kell Brook will be ready for Joshua-Whyte card on 12/12

brook5433By Scott Gilfoid: It’s looking like IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook won’t be ready by next month to fight Diego Chaves on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte fight card on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn would love to have the Brook-Chaves fight take place on the December 12th card because it would make it a slam dunk that the card would be worthy of putting on Sky Box Office.

However, Brook still has injured ribs, and the injury isn’t likely to be healed by next month. What Hearn obviously doesn’t want is to rush Brook back to the ring and have him fall apart against Chaves when he starts nailing the 29-year-old Brook with body shots to test his injured ribs.

Khan: I want Kell Brook to prove himself, then we have 50-50 fight

khanBy Scott Gilfoid: Despite IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) now scheduled to fight #4 IBF contender Diego Chaves (23-2-1, 19 KOs) at some point in the near future, Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) still feels that the 29-year-old Brook needs to prove himself against top fighters before he’ll agree to fight him.

It seems that Khan doesn’t rate Chaves as being a big name, and you can’t disagree with that. Chaves isn’t a big name, and a fight against him likely won’t do a whole heck of a lot in building up a future Khan-Brook fight.

Kell Brook hoping to fight in December

brook54566By Scott Gilfoid: If IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) gets his way, he’ll be back inside the ring this December if his rib injury heals up in time for that to take place. If the 29-year-old Brook heals up by December, he’ll be able to fight on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte card at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Needless to say, Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn would be overjoyed at having him on the Joshua-Whyte card against #4 IBF Diego Chaves (23-2-2, 19 KOs), because Hearn could then make the fight for Sky Box Office PPV rather than on Sky Sports 1.

Hearn hoping Khan will take Brook fight

khan5555By Scott Gilfoid: It’s starting to look like Amir Khan could end up not getting the Manny Pacquiao fight like he’d been hoping to get. This would be the second big money fight that Khan has missed out on if he fails to get the fight against the Filipino fighter. But Khan can still get a big money fight if he chooses to face IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who has a fight coming up in the near future against Diego Chaves.

If Brook wins that fight, he’ll be available fight a big match-up with Khan in the UK. That’s what Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping for. However, that doesn’t mean the fight will happen.

Kell Brook: I’m the best welterweight on the planet

brook67By Scott Gilfoid: With Floyd Mayweather Jr. now retired, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) is mouthing off, saying that he thinks he’s the best fighter in the welterweight division. Heck, I don’t think Brook is even the best welterweight in the UK. Amir Khan probably beats him.

That’s kind of hard to believe given how poor Brook looked in his fight against Shawn Porter last year, a fight in which Brook was forced to clinch constantly to keep from getting battered by Porter. I had Brook losing that fight by four rounds.

Kell Brook suffers rib injury, pulls out of Diego Chaves fight

brook67By Scott Gilfoid: When it rains it pours. When you thought nothing else could hurt the October 24th Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves fight card, we now have the news that the 29-year-old Brook has suffered a rib injury sparring and has now pulled out of the fight altogether.

Talk about your bad luck. The card was originally supposed to be televised on Sky Box Office, but that fell apart when the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury fight was postponed recently due to the Ukrainian Klitschko suffering an injury to his left calf. The Klitschko-Fury fight, which is taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany, was supposed to be packaged with the Brook-Chaves fight as the main event.

Brook/Chavez Off PPV, Joshua/Whyte on?

YouTube video

By K.A.B: It looks like UK Fans have been dealt a double edge sword. After the withdrawal of Wladamir Klitschko from his October fight date with Tyson Fury, The PPV fightcard for the Kell Brook vs. Diego Chavez has now been moved to Sky Sports 1 instead for October 24th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. This obviously is good news for UK fans because it was hard to justify that fight remaining on Sky Box office.

Eubank Jr. vs. Jeter on October 24th Brook-Chaves card

eubank4By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it doesn’t look like the boxing fans are going to be getting much value for their money in the co-feature bout in this month’s Sky Box Office pay-per-view card head-lined by Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) vs. Diego Chaves (23-2-1, 19 KOs) on October 24th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Instead of a nice competitive match-up between fighters evenly matched, #1 WBA middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KOs) has what amounts to be a mismatch against 39-year-old American Tony Jeter (24-4-1, 14 KOs) as the co-feature bout.
