Brook: I want to hurt Khan, he doesn’t deserve the Mayweather fight

brook8By Allan Fox: Unbeaten IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook thinks Amir Khan is trying to jump in front of the line for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr without earning the fight by taking on the best fighters like himself and Keith Thurman.

Brook believes that Khan doesn’t deserve a fight against Mayweather after fighting just twice at welterweight. He thinks Khan needs to pay his dues and fight the top guys before he gets a fight against a star like Mayweather.

Kell Brook a possibility for Tim Bradley in 2015

bradley3By Chris Williams: Tim Bradley (31-1, 12 KOs) is talking about all kinds of difference scenarios for potential big fights in 2015. He’s interested in fighting Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

You can now add IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) to that list, as Top Rank Vice President Carl Moretti is saying that Brook is someone that they’d like to match the 31-year-old Bradley up against next year if they can get that fight made.

froch#2By Matt H: 2014 was a great year for British boxing. Regular cards televised on Skysports, Channel 5 and Boxnation have certainly helped bring boxing towards the forefront of British sports.

Newly crowned champions, fight of the year contenders, rematches, some incredible performances and the return of boxing to Wembley Stadium marked an upward curve for boxing in Britain, below are my top 5 highlights.

Britain’s pound for pound

By jochef: Nothing gets a good old debate going quite like a pound for pound list, not just weather or not you agree with the rankings, but also how you came to decide where to place the fighters in question. I simply went on gut feeling and if all these guys were the same weight and faced each other who would win.

Kell Brook to fight in March against an opponent still to be determined

brook55666By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) will be defending his title for the first time next March in a fight that will likely be staged in the UK. Brook had previously planned on fighting in December of this year against a notable but not dangerous opponent, but he was stabbed by an unknown person while on vacation in Tenerife and that ruined his plans.

Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn will probably look to match him against an opponent that U.S boxing fans will recognize like Josesito Lopez, Andre Berto or Brandon Rios.

Kell Brook aiming for February ring return

brook6677By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) will be back in the ring making his first defense of his International Boxing Federation 147lb strap in the next four months against an opponent still to be determined.

Brook wanted to fight Amir Khan, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Khan wants to fight WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, and even if he doesn’t get that fight, which would seem likely, Khan probably won’t be fighting Brook.

Kell Brook to fight in February, wants Khan or Mayweather

brook55666By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) says he should be back in the ring by next February in 2015, and he wants to face either Amir Khan or Floyd Mayweather Jr. He’d like to fight Khan with the winner to take on Mayweather in a unification bout. Brook is still recovering from a stab wound in his leg.

Brook, 28, is coming off of a surprise upset win over IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter from last August. Using the punch and grab technique, Brook was able to clinch his way to a controversial 12 round victory.

Un-Khantained in 2015

khan53322By sishaq: Many boxers will claim they will take on any fight out there but business sense dictates it’s best to avoid certain boxers like the plague.

Among the “avoided” – GGG, Keith Thurman, Guillermo Rigondeaux. These boxers present ultra-high risk but ultra-low reward. Get beaten by any of them and you simply become a statistic, in the unlikely event you beat them your stock doesn’t necessarily rise higher.

Either way these fighters do not generate enough public interest presently to make financial sense which is why many opposition promoters avoid them altogether. However, in my opinion all three are on the verge of breaking out of the middle tier and into super stardom. Time will tell as we don’t yet know what future bouts will catapult these elite athletes into the upper stratosphere.

Khan: Kell Brook will always be there; I want Mayweather!

floyd74By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) says he’s willing to put off a title shot against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook in order to go after the much bigger prize in a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) in May of 2015.

Khan says that he only has once opportunity to fight Mayweather in 2015 and that’s in May. If Khan doesn’t take the fight against Mayweather at that time, then he’ll need to wait until 2016. Since Mayweather plans on retiring at the end of 2015, it looks like Khan will be permanently out of luck in trying to get the Mayweather fight.
