By Jim Dower: Despite having lost recent fights against Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce, former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (22-2-1, 19 KO’s) showed that he’s still a cut above the likes of #2 WBO Jonathan Oquendo (22-3, 15 KO’s), beating him by a 7th round TKO on Saturday night at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Vazquez Jr., 28, knocked Oquendo down in the 7th, causing the referee to halt the bout at 2:33 of the round.

By Dan Ambrose: 36-year-old Ivan Calderon (34-2-1, 6 KO’s) still doesn’t think it’s time for him to retire yet despite getting taken out for the second consecutive time last Saturday night against WBO light flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (27-1-1, 23 KO’s) in a 3rd round stoppage at the Auditorio del Estado, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

Segura vs. Calderon II on 4/2
By Jason Kim: Ivan Calderon (34-1-1, 6 KO’s) will be going back for more punishment in a rematch with WBO light flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (26-1-1, 22 KO’s) on April 2nd at the Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. Calderon, 36, was stopped in the 8th round last year by Segura in August, and took a lot of punishment in that fight. Why Calderon would want to face Segura a second time after the beating he took last fight is the question. Calderon couldn’t handle the body attack from Segura and folded in the 8th under a furious body attack from Seguara

Should Calderon fight a rematch with Segura?
By Eric Thomas: WBO light flyweight champion Ivan Calderon (34-1-1, 6 KO’s) suffered his first defeat of his nine-year pro career to the younger and taller Giovanni Segura (25-1-1, 21 KO’s) last Saturday night in an 8th round TKO loss at the Coliseo Mario ‘Quijote’ Morales, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Calderon was stopped with a series of hard body shots in the 8th round. Calderon fought bravely for six rounds, but didn’t have the offensive firepower to match the power and the relentless pace that Segura set out in this fight.
Did Calderon quit against Segura?
By Eric Thomas: World Boxing Organization light flyweight champion Ivan Calderon (34-1-1, 6 KO’s) lost for the firs time in his career last Saturday night against WBA light flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (25-1, 21 KO’s) in an 8th round TKO at the Coliseo Mario ‘Quijote’ Morales, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Sugura, use a vicious body attack and a lot of pressure to put the 35-year-old Calderon down in the 8th round. However, it looked like Calderon went down after getting hit by two body shots and then stayed down despite looking like he wasn’t in any kind of pain. Normally, when a fighter gets hurt with a body shot, he bends over or rolls around in pain.
