By Sean McDaniel: Undefeated Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (11-0, 9 KO’s) and British champion James DeGale (9-0, 7 KO’s) are on cruise course to face each other next as long as the contracts can be worked over and finalized. Groves’ camp has reportedly received contracts from DeGale’s promoter Frank Warren and are being looked over.

By Sean McDaniel: British promoter Frank Warren revealed that he’s looking to get signatures for a super middleweight clash between unbeaten British super middleweight champion James DeGale (9-0, 6 KO’s) and Commonwealth title holder George Groves (11-0, 9 KO’s), according to thesun.co.uk. Warren says “There are few things to agree with Groves’ representative Adam Booth, but I’m more optimistic of making the fight than an Aussie opener with sun block on. The fight will go to purse bids next week if we don’t thrash things out. So it will go ahead one way or another.”

For DeGale, a 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist, this puts him within reach of a world title shot against WBO super middleweight champion Roberto Stieglitz. However, DeGale is interested in facing anyone and says he’d like to fight Andre Dirrell, Stieglitz, Jean Paul Mendy and Renan St. Juste.

Groves, 22, is defending his super middleweight Commonwealth title against Kenny Anderson (12-0, 8 KO’s) on the undercard of the WBA heavyweight title bout between champion David Haye and challenger Audley Harrison at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England.

By Ryan Brigdale: Following the failed medical of James Obede Toney just 48 hours prior to ring time, George Groves has been able to line up a British super-middleweight title eliminator against hard hitting Scottish prospect Kenny Anderson, on the undercard of the “best of enemies” David Haye vs. Audley Harrison undercard.
Groves (along with James Degale) is one of, if not the most exciting super-middleweight prospect this side of the pond. With his 10-0 record with 8 of those coming inside the distance, is a refreshing addition to the super-middleweight scene.

By Sean McDaniel: Unable to get a fight with unbeaten 22-year-old Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (10-0, 8 KO’s), unbeaten former 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist had some choice things to say about Groves in an article today at the thesun.co.uk, saying “He’s [Paul Smith] never bad mouthed me, unlike that ugly ginger kid George Groves. Groves is the kind of boxer I can’t stand because he’s trying to live off my name and by Olympic Gold Medal.” DeGale, 24, is in the fast lane with his pro career scheduled to face British super middleweight champion Paul Smith (29-1, 15 KO’s) on December 11th at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, England.
Groves-Toney cancelled after James fails medical
By Sean McDaniel: The bout between unbeaten Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (10-0, 8 KO’s) and James Obede Toney is off after Toney failed the eye exam when cataract problem was discovered for the Ghanaian fighter. As such, the fight is off and Groves’ promoter Hayemaker Promotions are looking in a different direction to try and find a suitable replacement.
