Groves (along with James Degale) is one of, if not the most exciting super-middleweight prospect this side of the pond. With his 10-0 record with 8 of those coming inside the distance, is a refreshing addition to the super-middleweight scene.

The current commonwealth champion, with his fast unrelenting style has been extremely impressive on his last two ring appearances against Charles Adamu, putting his durable opponent down 3 times in the first four rounds before the referee stopped proceedings in the 6th, and on his American debut stopping tricky Mexican Alfredo Contreras. Groves really is proving his worth in this division which is swamped with British talent.

Groves is “thrilled” to be fighting Anderson on November 13th and is looking forward to putting on a show in front of his more illustrious stable mate David Haye.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Groves says “I’m so lucky to be fighting at the M.E.N again, with it sold out. Last time I when I got in the ring, there must have been a good 15,000 people in there and the reception was ecstatic”

Groves however is not taking this fight easily as he and Anderson know more about each other than what would initially meet the eye.

Hard hitting Anderson is 12-0 as a professional and landed a commonwealth gold medal in 2006 in the light heavyweight division as an amateur. Anderson also sparred with Groves in July in the build up to Groves’ American debut. Groves however places very little significance on that time in the gym

“He mentioned the sparring saying we took this fight off the back of it, but we had been talking about this fight way before we sparred”

“That sparring we did Kenny wasn’t fit for it, and I was only two weeks into my preparations. He looked like he looked like he was holding back, and I was working on different techniques so I don’t look to much into the sparring. He better expect a lot better George Groves by the time we fight”

Anderson is taking a somewhat more aggressive stance in the pre-fight hype by stating “I’m a man and he’s a wee boy. I will make a mess of him”

“His team took the same risks with David Haye in his 11th fight and he came unstuck against Carl Thompson. The same thing is going to Groves in his 11th fight, David is an exceptional fighter and could bounce back, but Groves isn’t and I am going to finish him”

The British super-middleweight category is arguably the most exciting division on the domestic scene, with Groves, Anderson, James Degale, and Paul Smith all vying to be the British champion in what has turned out to be a four man shoot out. With Degale stepping into the ring with Smith in December as the ‘final eliminator’ for the British title fight, we will soon see who will reign supreme and it could lay weight for a supreme night of British boxing entertainment. Bookmakers have the upcoming bouts going the way of Groves and Degale respectively, and with Haye, Khan, Froch and, Cleverly excelling in their respective divisions; we could easily be entering into 2011 with a sumptuous mouth-watering year of hard hitting action ahead of us.
