Sanchez says Brook will be KO’d by Golovkin if he trades

sanchez77

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Abel Sanchez believes that Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is going to need to use movement on September 10 if he doesn’t want to get knocked out by his fighter Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Sanchez doesn’t know for a fact whether Brook can hurt Golovkin, but he does know that Triple G can hurt him if he can land his shots. That’s why Sanchez thinks that Brook is going to need to use a lot of movement in this fight if he doesn’t want to get knocked out.

However, Sanchez has doubts whether Brook can do a lot of moving with his current weight of 176lbs. He believes that it’s going to be tough on Brook to move for long in the fight with him carrying around that kind of weight.

By Scott Gilfoid: In an attempt to leave no stones left unturned, Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is resorting to getting help from Boxing science at the Sheffield Hallam University to get ready for his September 10 fight against Gennady Golovkin. Brook is doing a lot of different exercises at the Hallam University in hopes of improving his strength, speed and conditioning enough to somehow beat Triple G in their fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Brook, 30, is lifting weights, working on treadmills, and other different exercises. All of it is being monitored and graphed to check for constant improvement.

Golovkin: My focus is Brook; Canelo, Froch are like clowns

Image: Golovkin: My focus is Brook; Canelo, Froch are like clowns

By Eric Baldwin: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) says he’s putting his entire focus on his next opponent Kell Brook, because Carl Froch, Chris Eubank Jr., Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders are acting like clowns. Golovkin says that what makes these fighters similar to clowns is the talking they’re doing but then not fighting. Golovkin says they have no respect.

Golovkin might get a fight one of these days against Canelo, but he’s likely the only one of the bunch that will ever fight him. Saunders doesn’t seem to be truly interested in facing him.

De La Hoya: Canelo will fight Golovkin when his body is ready for 160

dela7

By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya said today that his fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is still a 154lb fighter, and that he’s not going to fight unbeaten Gennady “GGG” Golovkin until his body tells him it’s ready to go up to 160lbs to take that fight. This is the same thing De La Hoya has been saying for months now.

The way that De La Hoya was speaking, it doesn’t seem like Canelo will be fighting Golovkin in 2017. There was previously talk that Golden Boy wanted to wait until the fall of 2017 before they matched Canelo against Golovkin, but now it appears that it’s going to depend on when Canelo’s body is ready for him to fight at 160. Just how long that’ll take is unclear.

Brook has a chance against Golovkin, says Malignaggi

Image: Brook has a chance against Golovkin, says Malignaggi

By Eric Baldwin: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s habit of standing directly in front of his opponents without moving his head could give challenger Kell Brook a chance against him in their fight on September 10, according to former two division belt holder Paulie Malignaggi. Golovkin pressures his opponents by cutting off the ring and looking to set them up for big shots, notes Malignaggi. analysis

What he doesn’t know is if Brook is going to be able to handle Golovkin’s thunderous punches that he lands in the fight. That’s the big question for Malginaggi. He expects Brook to be able to land his own sharp punches in the fight, but for him to have a real opportunity to win the bout, he must be able to take the 34-year-old Golovkin’s best power shots.

The Summit: Where GGG Perfects his Mexican Style

YouTube video

By Michael Montero – On the afternoon of August 23rd in Big Bear Lake, California, Abel Sanchez opened his gym to the media for a glimpse into the routine that has molded Gennady Golovkin into the finest middleweight in the world. Golovkin, along with his sparring partners, put in a full workout in front of the boxing press without missing a beat. There was plenty of sweat along with plenty of smiles; indeed the crew up at “The Summit” makes everybody feel like family, inside the ring and out. “There are no egos in this gym,” light heavyweight veteran and GGG sparring partner Darnell Boone told us, “everybody treats you like family, they’re great people.”

Kell Brook interested in Errol Spence fight

brook7

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook says he could move back down to 147 to defend his IBF welterweight title against his new #1 IBF mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) after his title challenge against unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) in their fight next month on September 10.

Brook says he’ll move back down to 147 for a huge fight, and he considers the Spence fight as a huge one. As such, Brook will do what he has to do for him to get the big money fight against a big name. Brook would be really up against it in facing a talent like Spence after coming off of a fight against Golovkin.

Canelo: Golovkin is talking stupid; I will beat him

canelo08

By Dan Ambrose: Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez thinks that IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is talking foolishly lately with the way he’s trash talking him in the media. Canelo says he thinks the people around Golovkin are changing him to get him to start talking trash the way he’s now doing. Canelo say he doesn’t care. The trash talking will make him angry and he’ll use that to make the fight with him more interesting when he does face him in the future.

Canelo says he has no doubts that he’ll beat Golovkin when the two of them do face each other. Like his promoter Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo insists that the fight with Triple G will happen, but the negotiations will be complicated.

Canelo doesn’t say why the negotiations with Golovkin will be difficult. He also doesn’t say whether they’ll insist on a catch-weight handicap to try and boil Golovkin’s weight down to try and weaken him to gain an edge.

My top pound-for-pound list

Image: My top pound-for-pound list

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, I thought I’d seen everything in boxing when it came to oddball pound-for-pound list until I’d seen former super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s own list, and it takes the cake.

Froch’s list resembles a list picked with one’s eyes closed with fighters selected at random rather than from careful consideration of their various talent levels. I honestly don’t know what Froch was thinking with his oddball pound-for-pound list, but I’ll be improving it with my own list, which makes a heck of a lot more sense than the guys that Froch has selected.

Will “Special K” Brook duck Spence?

brook845

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten talent Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) sent a strong message to IBF welterweight belt holder Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) with his devastating 6th round knockout victory over wily veteran Leonard Bundu (33-2-2, 12 KOs) last Sunday in their International Boxing Federation 147lb title eliminator bout.

The message that Spence sent to Brook with the victory was something along the lines of, ‘Are you sure you want to mess with this?’ I hate to say it, but I think Brook is going to decide that he wants no part of Spence, and he’ll quietly vacate his IBF welterweight title rather than come back down to the welterweight division to try and defend his strap.
