By Dan Ambrose: Two-time Irish Olympian Michael Conlan predicts that IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) will knockout Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) within 5 rounds in their fight on March 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Conlan says he cannot see Jacobs making it past the 5 rounds due to Golovkin’s huge punching power.
By Allan Fox: One of the major things that worries Gennady Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez about Daniel Jacobs is his ability to box and move around the ring for their fight on March 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York. That’s an area of concern for Sanchez, as most of the guys that GGG has fought during his decade long career have been fighters with slow feet that he’s been able to force into fighting.
If Jacobs chooses to move for 12 rounds, it could be difficult for Golovkin to land his power shots. Jacobs is very likely going to use a game plan that involves limiting Golovkin’s punch output. The way for Jacobs to do this is to move, jab and hold. Those are tried and true methods that fighters often use when fighting huge punchers like Golovkin.
By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy President Eric Gomez is reportedly concerned with the rumors of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin facing WBO 160 pound champion Billy Joe Saunders on June 10, because it could get in the way of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez facing Triple G in September.
Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler shutdown the Saunders-Golovkin rumors this week by saying that they have no plans on fighting him on June 10. A fight between Golovkin and Saunders would very likely be a short one with the fight ending in 6 rounds or less.

By Dan Ambrose: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he doesn’t believe that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has any intentions of matching his “cash cow” Saul “Canelo” Alvarez against unbeaten middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in September. Arum says that De La Hoya won’t make that fight because he doesn’t want his “cash cow” Canelo to get beaten by Golovkin.
By Eric Baldwin: Daniel Jacobs says that he will not fail in beating middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin on March 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jacobs says the creator wouldn’t have let him come this far only to see him fail. Golovkin is the favorite though in the fight.
For Jacobs to win, he’s going to need to fight the perfect fight and not get hit too much. With Golovkin’s 9-year knockout streak going for him, he’s proven that his punching power is a level above the other top fighters.
By Dan Ambrose: Former world title challenger Willie Monroe Jr. thinks Daniel Jacobs should stay on the inside when he fights IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on March 18 on HBO PPV. Monroe fought Golovkin in 2015, and he was stopped in the 6th round. Monroe says that he had his best success against Golovkin in round 4 and 5 when he was fighting in close.
Monroe was also taking a lot of punishment from Golovkin. It appeared that Monroe was getting the worst of it. He was definitely landing, but Golovkin was landing the harder shots that were getting the reaction from the crowd.

Jacobs, 29, says he’s trained his whole life for this, and he’s not going to quit now. Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) doesn’t care that Golovkin is viewed as the most feared man in boxing. He still believes he’s going to defeat him.

Golovkin says he wants to gift his boxing fans a “big gift” in his fight against Jacobs, which means he plans on turning the fight into a war for as long as it lasts.
By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. once again has chimed in on his thoughts about the future Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight. Mayweather has been vocal in the past about his believe that the Golden Boy star Canelo being the guy that eventually beats Triple G despite the fact that he vacated his WBC middleweight title to avoid the fight.
Mayweather says that Canelo will beat Golovkin and knock him out. Further, Mayweather also thinks there are three fighters that can beat Golovkin. He doesn’t say who all three of them are, but he puts Canelo on top of the list.
