Demetrius Andrade stripped of his WBO 154lb title for failure to defend it for 13 months

andradeBy Jim Dower: Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs) lost his WBO 154lb title on Friday when the World Boxing Organization stepped in and stripped him of the title for him failing to defend it in the past 13 months. Andrade last defended it in June of 2014, when he beat Brian Rose by a 7th round knockout.

Since then, Andrade had a chance to defend his title in December of 2014 when he was in negotiations for a fight against Jermell Charlo. However, Andrade pulled out of the negotiations due to the money not being good enough.

Demetrius Andrade wants unification fight against Erislandy Lara

Providence, RI (March 2, 2015)–After WBO number-one ranked Jr. Middleweight, Jermell Charlo decided to not fight fight WBO Jr. Middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade, Andrade’s father/trainer Paul has turned his attention to a fight with WBA belt holder Erislandy Lara.

“We signed a contract to fight Charlo a month ago,” said Paul Andrade. “He opted to fight a guy that we beat already in Vanes Martiroysan. I don’t even think Charlo will beat him. I can see Vanes out bullying him and win a decision about eight rounds to four.”

Demetrius Andrade vs. Canelo Alvarez: When trash talking crosses the line

canelo678By Jermill Pennington: Yesterday I had an article posted that had Demetrius Andrade (21-0 14ko) the current WBO super welterweight champion tearing in to Canelo Alvarez for choosing to fight James Kirkland this coming May. Andrade went on a tirade when asked about the current situation with Alvarez’s choice of Kirkland for his upcoming fighting calling Alvarez a “b!+@&” several times. Andrade in my estimation seemed to be doing a bit more then trash talking, these assertions made towards Alvarez seemed to have a personal undertone to them.

To be clear I am one who loves trash talk, especially in a sport where two mean punch each other for 36 minutes. However I do believe there’s a line you can cross that separates talking trash in a sportsman like fashion to insulting a man personally. It was said that Ali crossed the line leading in to the first fight with Frazier calling him ugly and a gorilla. Frazier seemed to be scared by those comments to the point that he seemed to take pride in Ali’s current condition once saying on camera “look what I did to him”.

Demetrius Andrade rips Canelo Alvarez

canelo001010101By Jermill Pennington: In a very candid interview with Tha Boxing Voice Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (21-0-14ko’s) took the opportunity while cameras were rolling to rip in to Canelo Alvarez in epic fashion. Andrade the current WBO super welterweight champion wanted to know why Canelo choose to fight James Kirkland instead of him this coming May. Andrade went on to point out how Kirkland has been out of action since December of 2013 and has no belt to offer.

Andrade who is available for the May date and is a guy in the division that has a belt and had this to say “I usually don’t say this about fighters but Canelo you’s a b!+@$”. Andrade went on to call Canelo out of his name several times as well as the Charlo brothers calling them bums “jamell, jamal, whichever one of them bums”.

Demetrius Andrade vs. Jermell Charlo on December 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada

andradeBy Allan Fox: WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs) will be defending his title against unbeaten #2 IBF, #2 WBO, #3 WBC Jermell Charlo (24-0, 11 KOs) on December 13th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. The Andrade-Charlo fight will be televised on Showtime.

This is a tough night for Showtime to be televising the Andrade vs. Charlo fight, because HBO will have former two division world champion Timothy Bradley facing Diego Chaves on the same night in a fight that will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Demetrius Andrade to fight on December 6th or 13th, possibly against one of the Charlo brothers

andrade777By Jim Dower: Unbeaten WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs) will be back in action on December 6th or 13th in a fight on Showtime rather than HBO, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

Andrade, 26, will be moving over to Showtime to get dates, fights and money against possibly one of the Charlo brothers. Andrade has been fighting on HBO lately, but after a fight against Matt Korobov fell apart over money, Andrade decided to go in another direction with his career.
