Chad Dawson: They must want to throw me out of the game

Fight Night-0001(Photo Credit: Amanda Kwok / SHOWTIME) By Allan Fox: Former IBF/WBC 175 pound champion Chad Dawson (32-4, 18 KOs) is convinced that the powers that be are looking to throw him out of the sport of boxing following his close 10 round split decision loss to Tommy Karpency (24-4-1, 14 KOs) last night in Dawson’s fight on Showtime from the Foxwoods Resort, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

Dawson was a huge favorite to win the fight coming in. Indeed, he was a 25:1 favorite to defeat Karpency, who had never beaten anyone remotely talented before in his 8 year pro career. But Dawson failed to fight as hard as he needed to in order to impress the three judges, especially late in the fight when he was outworked by Karpency.

Chad Dawson hoping to get world title shot within 2 more fights

dawson2By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC light heavyweight champ Chad Dawson (32-3, 18 KOs) fights tonight on a Showtime televised fight card against Tommy Karpency (23-4-1, 14 KOs) at the Foxwoods Resort, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

The 32-year-old Dawson has lost 2 out of his last 3 fights, and he’s in a situation here where he cannot afford to lose if he wants to try and bring his career back to it’s former level. Dawson’s career has taken a major hit with knockout losses to Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson. Dawson is ranked at #14 by the World Boxing Council, and he’s got a long ways to go if his goal is to try and fight Stevenson a second time to try and avenge his loss to him.

dawson100By Dan Ambrose: This Saturday night former IBF/WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (32-3, 18 KOs) will be fighting former world title challenger Tommy Karpency (23-4-1, 14 KOs) in a 10 round bout at the Foxwoods Resort, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA. This is a tune-up fight for the 32-year-old Dawson.

This fight should give a good indication how much Dawson has left in the tank, because Karpency has a pretty good chin. Dawson may have to go the full 12 rounds with him if he wants to get the victory. Hopefully for Dawson’s sake, he’s not blubbery like he was in his last fight against George Blades last June.
