prescott3357By Allan Fox: Breidis Prescott (26-4, 20 KOs) will get a chance to get some visibility this Saturday night in a scheduled 10 round bout against unbeaten and highly decorated former amateur star Terence Crawford (19-0, 15 KOs) on the undercard of the Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight will be televised by HBO, and it’s going to be a great opportunity for the 29-year-old Prescott to put in an exciting fight against another big puncher in the 25-year-old Crawford.

HBO approves Allakhverdiev-Prescott as co-main event for Rios-Alvarado card on 3/30

prescott233By Dan Ambrose: Earlier today, HBO approved the fight between knockout artist Breidis Prescott (26-4, 20 KO’s) and WBA light welterweight champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (18-0, 8 KO’s) as the co-main event on the Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado 2 card on March 30th on HBO at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Allakhverdiev, a recent Top Rank signee, needed an opponent that the U.S boxing public was familiar with, but not someone so good that they would potentially beat him. Prescott’s name was picked despite the fact that he’s lost two out of his last four fights and is no longer ranked in the top 15 by any of the sanctioning bodies.

Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Breidis Prescott on March 30th

khan63569By Chris Williams: WBA World light welterweight champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (18-0, 8 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title on March 30th against 2nd tier fighter Breidis Prescott (26-4, 20 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The Allakhverdiev-Prescott fight will be the co-main event on the Mike Alvarado vs. Brandon Rios card.

Prescott was previously mentioned to be facing fringe light welterweight contender Victor Cayo, but it looks like Top Rank promoter Bob Arum wanted him more to give some credibility to his new champion 30-year-old Allakhverdiev.

Breidis Prescott vs. Victor Cayo on ESPN2 on March 8th

prescott3357By Dan Ambrose: Light welterweight contender Victor Cayo (31-3, 22 KO’s) will be facing the hard hitting Colombian Breidis Prescott (26-4, 20 KO’s) next month on March 8th on ESPN2, according to promoter Sampson Lewkowicz. Both Cayo and Prescott have seen their stock drop in the past few years in losing important fights.

Cayo, #10 IBF, has suffered knockout losses to Marcos Maidana, Lamont Peterson and Nate Campbell. The knockout loss to 40-year-old Campbell really hurt because Campbell had been beaten in four out of his last five fights and was considered over-the-hill by a lot of boxing fans.

Khan: Matthysse would be an easy opponent

Image: Khan: Matthysse would be an easy opponentBy William Mackay: Despite coming off of a loss where he looked absolutely horrible in running around the ring to try and avoid the shots from Lamont Peterson, Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) sees light welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (31-2, 29 KO’s) as easy opponent if they were to ever fight.

De La Hoya likes Khan vs. 40-year-old Mosley or Prescott next in the UK

Image: De La Hoya likes Khan vs. 40-year-old Mosley or Prescott next in the UKBy William Mackay: If Oscar De La Hoya had his way he’d like to see former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan fight 40-year-old Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39 KO’s) next in the UK. De La Hoya also likes the idea of Khan fighting a rematch against Breidis Prescott (24-4, 19 KO’s) also in the UK if the Lamont Peterson rematch doesn’t happen for the 24-year-old Khan.
