Will Froch-Kessler winner face Andre Ward?

ward3432By Scott Gilfoid: Both Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler have talked about wanting to avenge their defeats by WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward recently and Ward is really hoping that he can get both of them in the ring again so that he can shot that his victories over the two European fighters wasn’t a fluke.

This Saturday Froch and Kessler will be facing each other in a rematch at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The winner of the fight really has no place to go in the division other than to try and redeem themselves by facing Ward again to show that they’re not as bad as Ward made them both look in his dominating performances against them.

Hearn: Froch-Kessler II is a 50-50 fight

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Sport sees this Saturday’s fight between his fighter IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) and Sauerland Promotions fighter WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) as a 50-50 fight, although Hearn does seem to still favor Froch.

Hearn said to thesun.co.uk “I think it’s a pure 50-50 fight, but I think Froch is the favorite because he has the hometown advantage. I do think Carl is fitter, stronger and fresher than Kessler.”

Canelo Alvarez versus Floyd Mayweather: A risky fight for Golden Boy to make

canelo443By Dallas Orysiuk: There is no doubt that a fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez would be huge, especially on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day on September 14th. Alvarez is undefeated with a record of 42-0-1 (30 KOs) meanwhile Mayweather holds an undefeated record of 44-0-0 (26 KOs) against far greater opposition.

Floyd Mayweather has beaten the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Diego Corrales, Arturo Gatti, and Robert Guerrero to name a few. Meanwhile Alvarez has been pampered up until his previous fight, fighting tomato cans, cab drivers, blown up welterweights and fighters well past their prime.

In his most recent victory, Canelo impressed fans by giving Austin Trout his first loss.

Broner-Malignaggi: Problems for “The Problem”

broner65454By Bob Smith: Nearly all boxing fans are familiar with one of the rising young stars in boxing today, Adrien “The Problem” Broner. He is ranked #5 on the Golden Boy pound for pound list, AKA the Ring Magazine Pound for Pound List and arguably lives up to the hype of all but Golden Boy Promotions.

Since his unanimous decision victory in early 2011 against Daniel Ponce de Leon – which I actually scored as a loss for him or at best a draw – he has scored six straight KO victories against world class competition such as Vicente Escobedo, Antonio DeMarco and Gavin Rees.

Bellew-Chilemba II: Tony admits his frustration heading into Saturday’s bout

bellew345By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Silver light heavyweight champion Tony Bellew (19-1-1, 12 KO’s) admits that he’s almost powerless when it comes to his opponent for this Saturday Isaac Chilemba (20-1-2, 9 KO’s) in their rematch at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Bellew wants Chilemba to slug with him, but he feels that it’s not going to happen unless Chilemba chooses to fight his fight and just stand there throwing shots. That’s probably not going to happen because Chilemba’s not stupid and he’s not going to fight a primitive caveman style just because it helps Bellew out.

Manuel Charr: I will end Deontay Wilder’s career

charr435By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC heavyweight contender Manuel Charr unloaded on American heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) with both barrels on his twitter account seemingly for no reason other than to get a reaction from the 6’7” talent.

It’s kind of strange because Charr is supposed to be fighting David Haye after he finishes healing up from a hand injury. I guess it’s easy for Charr to trash talk Deontay when there’s no possibility of them fighting.

Here’s what Charr has to say about Wilder: “I want you Wilder, easy sparring for me and win. Wilder will feel Arabian Bombs my friend. Wilder is a pu**y. He doesn’t want to fight anyone who comes to fight and win.

Mayweather vs. Canelo: Yes, it will happen

floyd#900By Mauricio Carranza: Believe it or not the fight between WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will happen. Believe me, it’s just matter of time, I can guarantee it. First off, we need to understand Maywether is a very smart fighter and an even smarter business man. He understands exactly how the “business” of boxing work. There is risk and reward.

The risk being fighting a strong bigger opponent with good hand speed and very dangerous right hand, and please understand when I say bigger I mean frame-wise because Canelo might be an inch taller than Floyd if that.

Bradley vs. Marquez close to being finalized

marquez5By Allan Fox: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (30-0, 12 KO’s) has reportedly signed the contract for a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO’s) that is tentatively scheduled for September 14th at the Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Marquez still hasn’t signed the contract but he’s expected.

The Bradley-Marquez fight may get moved to October 12th if Floyd Mayweather decides he wants to fight on September 14th in a PPV fight bout against possibly Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bob Arum of Top Rank, the promoter for Bradley, doesn’t want to go up against the Mayweather fight because it would mean lousy ratings for the Bradley-Marquez fight.

Stop the madness, Matthysse isn’t “The One” to dethrone the P4P King

matthysse543By Frank Gaskins: Lucas Matthysse’s dymanic performance last Saturday was something of the likes we haven’t seen in quite some time. His record of (34-2, 32 KO’s) is an impressive one to say the least and he deserves all the praise that comes his way…or does he, maybe Golden Boy Promotions deserves all the praise for the match-ups they have made in building “The New Manny Pacquiao”.

Like it or not, as a boxing fan, die hard or casual we all know who the P4P King is, he’s the best fighter in the world and the second best guy isn’t even close. The boxing world is so thirsty for someone, anyone to knock off Floyd Mayweather (44-0, 26 KO’s) that when we see a dominate performance like what Lucas Matthysse displayed vs. Peterson it jumps from “did you just see that!” to “this is the guy that can beat Mayweather” without any research.

Canelo looking for a new strength and conditioning coach for September fight

alvarez45By Dan Ambrose: WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) is reportedly looking for a strength and conditioning coach to help improve his stamina before his September 14th fight against an opponent still to be determined.

According to Fighthype.com, Canelo’s team is thinking about adding either Angel Heredia, the strength coach for Juan Manuel Marquez, or Alex Ariza, the strength coach for Manny Pacquiao.

Whether Canelo can get either of those guys is still unclear, but what is clear is that he needs a conditioning coach to work his stamina because he’s looked exhausted by the 5th rounds in his fights against Shane Mosley and Austin Trout.
