Is Mayweather overconfident for Pacquiao fight?

Floyd Mayweather Work Out for the PressBy Mauricio Carranza: Recently in an interview with ESPN, Floyd Mayweather Jr. claimed to be a better fighter than the great Muhammad Ali. Now before we go over this statement, let me just say that Floyd Mayweather Jr is arguably the best defensive fighter of this decade, a master of the Philly shell with great speed and fantastic reflexes. He has maintained his undefeated throughout the years fighting good opposition and making millions of dollars in the process.

Now with that being said there are some problems with Floyd claiming to be better than Ali at this point in his career.

Is Canelo on his way to being the next superstar?

canelo0256By Mauricio Carranza: Former WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KO’s) is by far the most famous and recognized Junior middleweight on the planet as of today.

I say that fully knowing that Floyd Mayweather Jr is a welterweight and defeated Canelo at 152lbs, which in my eyes does not make Floyd a Jr. Middleweight champion. And also Floyd hasn’t defended either of his WBA and WBC 154 pound titles that he won off of Canelo last September in beating him by a 12 round majority decision.

Saul “Canelo” Alavarez, The New Oscar De La Hoya

canelo999By Mauricio Carranza: Former WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KO’s) is fighting WBA junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12 KO’s) On July 12th at the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel, which should be a good fight if things go well for the young Mexican fighter because let’s face it, Lara has a style that can sometimes put people to sleep.

Even though I believe that Lara can win by boxing and moving well, I think it would be better for boxing if Canelo wins, simply because Canelo seems to be the new Oscar De La Hoya.

Floyd has to stop fighting corpses

floyd#01By Mo: WBC Welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is indeed a great boxer and has undoubtedly the best defensive style of our era, yet he keeps fighting the wrong boxers and the big fights that the fans would love to see never get made.

I’m tired of seeing Floyd fight the nonthreatening fighters he keeps selling to the casual fans and the real fights never happen we need to demand a match between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather.

Those are the type of fights that boxing needs, a great super star that is king of boxing and a great young rising star that poses a real threat to the king’s crown.

Mayweather vs. Canelo: Yes, it will happen

floyd#900By Mauricio Carranza: Believe it or not the fight between WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will happen. Believe me, it’s just matter of time, I can guarantee it. First off, we need to understand Maywether is a very smart fighter and an even smarter business man. He understands exactly how the “business” of boxing work. There is risk and reward.

The risk being fighting a strong bigger opponent with good hand speed and very dangerous right hand, and please understand when I say bigger I mean frame-wise because Canelo might be an inch taller than Floyd if that.
