Stop the madness, Matthysse isn’t “The One” to dethrone the P4P King

matthysse543By Frank Gaskins: Lucas Matthysse’s dymanic performance last Saturday was something of the likes we haven’t seen in quite some time. His record of (34-2, 32 KO’s) is an impressive one to say the least and he deserves all the praise that comes his way…or does he, maybe Golden Boy Promotions deserves all the praise for the match-ups they have made in building “The New Manny Pacquiao”.

Like it or not, as a boxing fan, die hard or casual we all know who the P4P King is, he’s the best fighter in the world and the second best guy isn’t even close. The boxing world is so thirsty for someone, anyone to knock off Floyd Mayweather (44-0, 26 KO’s) that when we see a dominate performance like what Lucas Matthysse displayed vs. Peterson it jumps from “did you just see that!” to “this is the guy that can beat Mayweather” without any research.

If Mayweather decides to NOT fight Matthysse the world will cry Floyd is cherry picking. Well here are some facts about “The New Manny Pacquiao”, the two biggest names on his record outside of Peterson is Zab Judah and Devon Alexander and yes he may have dropped them both, but he also lost both fights, controversial or not.

The biggest name on his record after that is DeMarcus Corley who has 15 losses, but it doesn’t stop there, even though all fighters fight guys that have lost before, Matthysse’s record is made up of guys most of us have never heard of with records such as (30-20-0), (21-19-1), (20-37-6) and (16-26-6) just to name a few, there are quite a few others with high double digit losses.

All this talk about this guy and then when Floyd completely dominates him, that’s when the research begins and everyone will say, “well Matthysse hadn’t really fought anybody”. We have one of the greatest champions EVER, fighting now and most people can’t appreciate it.

Could you imagine if someone said “Kobe really isn’t all that good, he only scores because he’s playing against bums”, mentioning Matthysse in the same sentence as Mayweather is like saying Jeremy Lin would beat Kobe one on one.

Matthysse vs Garcia or Matthysse vs Broner now I will accept that. Stop the madness and jus face it Floyd’s the best you’ve ever seen and no one is gonna beat him.
