Mosley could face Broner-Malignaggi winner or Mundine

mosley445(Photo credit: Alma Montiel) By Allan Fox: 41-year-old Shane Mosley (47-8-1, 39 KO’s) is being mentioned as a possible opponent for the winner of the June 22nd fight between WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) and Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s), according to Badlefthook.

Mosley will get the winner unless he chooses instead to face former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (44-5, 26 KO’s) in a fight that would take place in August or September in Australia.

Mosley is reportedly being offered good money for the Mundine fight to face him at 154. Mundine, a middleweight, would drop down 6 pounds to take the fight.

Mundine: I out-landed Geale 219 to 112; I’m still the Man!

mundine1By Allan Fox: Former two time WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (44-5, 26 KO’s) firmly believe he was robbed by the judges on Wednesday night in his 12 round unanimous decision loss to IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (29-1-1, 15 KO’s) at the Entertainment Centre, in Sydney, Australia.

Mundine, 37, lost the fight by the scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111. However, after sitting down and watching the fight himself, said he had himself winning by a 116-113 score.

Not only does Mundine feel like he won the fight, but he actually seems to be gloating in his perceived victory, as if it’s a reality instead of something inside of his head.

“Just comes out Mundine out-lands Geale 219 punches to Geale’s 112. Told you so! Still the man. Hate seriously blinds people. I caught him with more shots. I just watch the fight replay ! Now I’m even more convinced I won…it was closer then I thought tho 116-113 Mundine.”

Geale v. Mundine II tomorrow in Sydney, Australia

geale3By Dan Ambrose: IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale will be defending his title in a rematch tomorrow night against his old nemesis 38-year-old Anthony Mundine at the Entertainment Center in Sydney, Australia. Geale chose this fight rather than facing the much more dangerous WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin to fight. By choosing Mundine to fight again, it cost Geale his WBA Super World middleweight title, but then it was a bad match-up for Geale and he would have likely lost not only his WBA strap, but also his IBF title had he taken the fight.

The rematch with Mundine isn’t a match that registers with the world wide boxing public because Mundine has been out of the loop for so long that it’s not a fight that boxing fans outside of Australia really care about but the Australians like the fight and it’ll give Geale a good payday.

Geale, 31, was beaten by Mundine by a controversial 12 round split decision in May of 2009 in a fight that many boxing fans felt should have gone the other way.

Geale to defend against Mundine on January 31st

Image: Geale to defend against Mundine on January 31stBy Dan Ambrose: In an all Australian clash, IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s) will be defending his title against 37-year-old Anthony Mundine (44-4, 26 KO’s) on January 31st in Sydney, Australia. Geale preferred taking this fight rather than defending his WBA Super World middleweight title against WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

This cost Geale his WBA strap because the World Boxing Association then promptly stripped him of his belt for failing to defend it against Golovkin after he’d been ordered to take the fight.

Geale to be stripped by WBA if he faces Mundine instead of Golovkin

Image: Geale to be stripped by WBA if he faces Mundine instead of GolovkinBy Scott Gilfoid: It looks like WBA Super World middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s) will soon have to vacate his WBA title after the World Boxing Association determined at their convention that the 31-year-old Geale will have to face WBA regular middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s) next instead of the fight that Geale wants to make next against fellow Australian Anthony Mundine (44-4, 26 KO’s) in Australia.

The fight against Mundine is a winnable one for Geale and would bring him a lot more money than a fight against the powerful Golovkin, which is a much more dangerous fight for Geale. It was clear that Geale would have to fight Golovkin next after Geale defeated WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm last September, but instead there’s been talk of Geale taking the fight with Mundine and then possibly Geale’s #1 IBF contender Sam Soliman after that. Soliman is Australian as well, so it makes sense from Geale’s perspective to take that fight as well BEFORE Geale fights the dangerous Golovkin.
