Maidana looks a lot stronger than Khan at weigh-in, Amir is going to lose

By Scott Gilfoid: It was shocking how much stronger Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) looked compared to WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) at yesterday’s weigh-in for tonight’s fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Maidana looked like a little linebacker, solid as a rock and mean looking. When he stared at Khan, I could of sworn I saw daggers coming out of Maidana’s eyes and shooting for the skinny throat of Khan.

Khan wants his next fight in the UK, could Prescott be next?

Image: Khan wants his next fight in the UK, could Prescott be next?By Jim Dower: Provided that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) beats challenger Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) tonight in Las Vegas, Khan will likely be fighting in the UK possibly in Manchester in his next fight. This won’t likely be against the winner of the Devon Alexander vs. Timothy Bradley bout, however. Instead, it will be a stay busy fight for Khan to fight in front of his fans in England. Bradley or Alexander wouldn’t fight in England now, and HBO likely wouldn’t go for the idea either since the difference times zones would make it so that the fight would be either on delay or it would have to be shown during non-prime time and that’s not going to happen.

Whether he is or isn’t could be partially determined tonight when he fights the hard hitting Argentinian Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both Roach and Khan seem to have adopted an identical swagger and way of speaking where they’re already talking as if the Maidana fight is won and are looking down the road towards winning the unification bout against the winner of the Timothy Bradley – Devon Alexander bout and fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Amir Khan: Unlike writers, Boxers are born with talent

By Gary Brownlie: Amir Khan is a British boxer who has been protected thus far in his career, rightly so in my opinion as he is the kind of boxer who isn’t a born fighter. He received criticism within Britain as he rose to fame at the same time as we had champions such as Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe who both liked to engage their opponents and not take a backwards step.

Roach says Khan is a better puncher than Maidana, thinks he’ll knock him out

By Dave Lahr: It’s always interesting to see how trainer Freddie Roach likes to predict knockout victories or lopsided wins. He seems to never predict for a close fight, and it’s understandable because his main gravy train fighter in Manny Pacquiao and he’s done well with catch weight handicap fights and good match making against opponents that have come into fights with Pacquiao a little beaten up. Roach is now picking his fighter WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) to knock out Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas.
