Image: Allan Green predicting knockout win over Kessler on Sep 25th – NewsBy Sean McDaniel: Despite having zero luck and looking really bad in his first fight of the Super Six tournament against World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Andre Ward on last June, the 30-year-old Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) is predicting a knockout win over his next opponent in the tournament WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) when they meet on September 25th in Kessler’s home country of Denmark.

Green vs. Kessler: Allan in a do or die situation and has to win

Image: Green vs. Kessler: Allan in a do or die situation and has to winBy Jason Kim: Allan “Ghost Dog” Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) is coming off a humiliating 12 round decision loss to WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in his last fight of the Super Six tournament on June 19th in Oakland, California. After all the bragging that the 30-year-old Green had done before the fight and the promises to be too much for Ward, Green was left making pitiful excuses after the fight, complaining about being over-trained and weight drained for the fight. In fairness to Green, he did like starving person at the weigh-in for the fight.

Dirrell-Ward, Froch-Abraham, Kessler-Green predictions

Image: Dirrell-Ward, Froch-Abraham, Kessler-Green predictionsBy William Mackay: The next stage of the Super Six tournament should be a little more interesting with some of the best matches, at least on paper, in the tourney. Without a date set, the fight between former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch vs. Arthur Abraham should take place in September, unless Froch holds out hoping to land a fight in Nottingham or some other venue more to his liking. Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward face each other in an all American battle.

Prediction: Look for Kessler to struggle against Allan Green

Image: Prediction: Look for Kessler to struggle against Allan GreenBy Scott Gilfoid: It’s nice that former WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) was able to get by Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) in his stage 2 Super Six bout and escape with a narrow win, but Kessler now has to face the always dangerous mean Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) in his next Super Six tournament fight on September 25th, and I’m not so certain that Kessler will win this fight. It’s one thing beating a slow fighter like Froch, whose hands and movements are slow and robotic, but it’s quite another thing to fight a guy like Green, who is both fast and powerful.

Does Ward need to change his mauling style of fighting

Image: Does Ward need to change his mauling style of fightingBy Jim Dower: In the two fights that WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s) has taken part in for the Super Six tournament, he’s been less than exciting in either of them despite winning both fights. It isn’t that Ward isn’t a good fighter. He’s certainly an excellent fighter with good overall skills. However, he has a way of fighting that is less than pleasing to watch because of all the clinching, smothering and infighting Ward tends to do.

Dirrell: “I knew it [Ward’s win over Green] was going to be a clinic”

Image: Dirrell: “I knew it [Ward’s win over Green] was going to be a clinic”By Scott Gilfoid: Super Six contestant Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) was impressed with WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward’s win over Super Six replacement opponent Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s) last Saturday night in Oakland, saying “I knew it was going to be a clinic. If Green didn’t bring damage to Ward early then he wasn’t going to do it at all. After the fourth round, I knew it was going to be a wrap.” Dirrell was so right. Green didn’t do the things he needed to do to win this fight, like stay off the ropes for one.
