Mayweather Sr: I can teach Broner to fight like Floyd Jr.

broner6767433By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Sr. was thoroughly disgusted with what he saw of Adrien Broner last Saturday night in his loss to Marcos Maidana. While Floyd Sr. could see where Broner was attempting to copy his son Floyd Jr’s fighting style, he thought he was doing it all wrong and making a complete mess of it.

Floyd Sr. says that he can teach Broner how to fight like Floyd Jr. if that’s how he wants to fight, but he thinks he won’t be able to do it without his help.

Floyd Sr. thinks Broner is going in the wrong direction with how he fights right now with the way he gets hit so much, doesn’t use his legs, jabs or foot movement. He seems Broner as a very, very poor copy of Floyd Jr.

Mayweather wants Broner to fight at 140 on his undercard in May

broner000000By Eric Thomas: Floyd Mayweather Jr. feels that Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) isn’t big enough to be fighting in the welterweight division at this time, and Mayweather wants him to move down to 140 lbs. and fight on his undercard on May 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather believes that Broner made a mistake in choosing a big puncher in Marcos Maidana to fight last Saturday night instead of a lighter puncher. It was too much of a jump up from the lightweight division in terms of power, Mayweather feels.

Broner apologizes for running out of the ring after loss to Maidana

broner65523By Allan Fox: Former WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) finally came out tonight and apologized to fans for him running out of the ring without giving an interview or congratulation Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) after their fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Maidana won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision. In looking at Broner’s photo from today, he still has swelling on the right side of his face 5 days after the fight.

Broner stuck around long enough to hear the judges scores, and at that point he darted for the exit. While on his way to his dressing room, Broner and his entourage was pelted with trash by angry fans, who didn’t like the idea that Broner was taking off without giving an interview or speaking with Maidana.

Broner said on his instagram “This is the face of a 3x world champion in 3 different weight divisions. I am a man and first of all I want to say I’m sorry for running out on all the fans after my fight.

Broner dropped from Ring’s pound-for-pound list

broner736By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) not only lost his WBA welterweight title last Saturday night in his beating by Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s), but he also lost his top 10 pound-for-pound rankings with Ring Magazine.

Broner had been at #9 in the rankings, but he’s no longer there. Broner’s been replaced by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at #9 and Carl Froch at #10.

I’m not sure if Broner cares about the pound-for-pound ratings or not, but he should. A lot of boxing fans look at these ratings when evaluating fighters, and by Broner no longer being on the top 10 list, it definitely hurts his credibility with fans.

The importance of being unbeaten

broner6362By Trevellyan: There has been much debate over the years regarding boxing records, the importance of being undefeated and the repercussions to fighters who suddenly lose there ‘0.’ Last week’s defeat of former WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) by the hands of Marcos Maidana (35-3, 3 KO’s) has brought this topic back to the lips of fans and questions have been asked. Has this ruined Broner’s career?

Simply the answer is no. Yes, Broner clearly lost the fight to Maidana. However, I believe some credit is due considering the easier options that could have been taken. I’m sure Broner will reflect on the loss and come back with hopefully a new attitude. Last Saturday’s bout reminded everyone that exciting fights can be made when fighters take the step to fight dangerous ranked fighters.

Broner needs to move down to 140, says Malignaggi

broner635353By Allan Fox: Paulie Malignaggi thinks Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) has no business fighting in the welterweight division, and he’s got some major concerns about his ring intelligence and not to mention his overall talent after the beating he took against Marcos Maidana last Saturday night the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Malignaggi thinks Broner need to move down to 140 if he wants to avoid similar losses like the one he experienced against Maidana. Malignaggi didn’t mention having Broner move back down to 135, and that could mean that he has doubts whether the 24-year-old can still make that weight without dramatic lifestyle changes in his eating habits and his partying.

Adrien Broner: The Problem

broner6767By Rameez Haider:  Adrien Broner was the one mooted to take over the reigns as boxing’s next superstar. People compared him to Floyd Mayweather; many even saw him as the one to beat Mayweather, yet after 36 minutes of boxing all these ideas were taken away by Marcos Maidana. Many people have been over the moon about fact Broner lost, some people shocked and some not surprised after his previous performance against Paulie Malignaggi. The question I ask is whether Broner lost this fight in the ring or outside the ring.

In thinking about this, Ricky Hatton was the 1st name that sprung to mind. Hatton was a very good fighter and had some excellent fights, however Hatton had the problem where he was flat-footed, did not have great lateral movement and was easy to catch. The main reason behind this was his lifestyle outside the ring. Hatton always ballooned up in weight and lived a poor lifestyle. The result of this was the fact Hatton could never be fleet footed after spending more time carrying excess weight.

Maidana creates blueprint in how to beat Broner

broner010101By Allen Hmiel: Seeing the dismantling and defeat of Adrian Broner to the underdog Marcos Maidana last Saturday night brought back memories of another well known boxing star Naseem Hamed from England over a decade ago.

Broner and Hamed both had that air of superiority in thinking they were great fighters until they were exposed by good opposition.

Broner in losing for the first time to Maidana will now be vulnerable to every tough fighter out there. They’ll come after the once confidant Broner with fists flying looking to expose him in the same way that Maidana did last Saturday.

Floyd Sr. thinks he can fix Broner’s flaws

broner784445By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Sr. is willing to take over the training for former three division world champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) to try and fix his flaws to help turn his career around after his loss to Marcos Maidana last weekend. Floyd Sr. doesn’t see Broner being able to progress without his help. He sees him as being too limited for him to be able to make it back to the top to be a top guy.

Floyd Sr. was the one that initially taught Floyd Mayweather Jr. how to fight. and the shoulder roll defense is something Floyd Sr. taught him when he was young. Broner uses the same defensive style, but he’s not as good it as Floyd Jr. Broner does a good job of blocking a lot of shots, but he’s not as fast with his head and upper body at getting out of the way of incoming punches.
