Image: Broner picks Berto to beat Guerrero tonightBy Scott Gilfoid: Adrien “The Problem” Broner is going with his friend Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) to defeat WBC interim welterweight champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) tonight in their fight on HBO in Ontario, California.

Broner showed up Friday’s Guerrero-Berto weigh-in and when pressed about who he feels will win the fight between Berto and Guerrero, Broner said “I’m a good friend of Andre Berto. I’m going with A.B.”

Broner vs. Burns not what boxing fans want to see

Image: Broner vs. Burns not what boxing fans want to seeBy Scott Gilfoid: Golden Boy Promotions might want to take a long look at the poll over at RingTV where they ask who boxing fans want to WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner to fight next. Instead of Ricky Burns, the fighter that Golden Boy is considering for Broner’s next fight, fans in large numbers prefer to see Broner fight Brandon Rios or Danny Garcia.

Obviously fans don’t really care that those two fighters are light welterweights and not lightweights. They’re smart enough to realize that 5 pounds isn’t enough to keep a big fight between Broner and one of them from happening.

Is Adrien Broner that good?

Image: Is Adrien Broner that good?By Gerardo Granados: A friend of mine asked me if the newly crowned WBC lightweight champion is really that good or is it that Antonio DeMarco was simply tailor made for him to defeat? Adrien looked too dominant vs. De Marco; it was like seeing a professional prizefighter fighting against an amateur.

The quality of opposition that Adrien has faced isn´t too impressive, having defeated former WBO super bantam champion and current WBC featherweight belt holder Daniel Ponce de Leon; Antonio De Marco has a heart bigger than his chest but his overall boxing skills are not equitable to his heart, Jorge Linares dominated him until De Marco hurt him and finish him off. Antonio is a good fighter but his attack is quite predictable and his defense is average. Against Broner, Antonio was clueless on how to fix the puzzle that “Da problem” presented.

Broner vs. Burns: Ricky wins this one

Image: Broner vs. Burns: Ricky wins this oneBy Stevie Ocallaghan: A lot of talk is made of the fact that World Boxing Organization (WBO) lightweight champion Ricky Burns moved up in weight. Some think he ran from Adrien Broner. The actual fact is as you get older, you fill out and it was draining all physical reserves he had to try keep to the 9st 4 limit.

After the 4 round demolition of Kevin Mitchell, you could see Burns was far bigger and stronger, so why would you drain yourself to stay at an unnatural weight just to suit others when it’s not what’s best for you.

Is Adrien Broner the new Floyd Mayweather?? No he’s the new generation of boxing!!

Image: Is Adrien Broner the new Floyd Mayweather?? No he’s the new generation of boxing!!By Paul Walsh: The only similarities between Adrien Broner and Floyd Mayweather are they are both black American, unbeaten and charismatic and that is where the similarities end.  After watching Broner’s eight round demolition of lightweight king Antonio DeMarco I was pleased as I knew the world would finally stand up and appreciate the star that is Adrien Broner.

I have been following his career for a long time and from the first fight I saw I knew he was something special.  No longer is he just another flashy, cocky, trash talking fighter with too much confidence he actually has the skill and talent to back it up.  He is indeed a problem.

Will Ricky Burns duck Adrien Broner?

Image: Will Ricky Burns duck Adrien Broner?By Scott Gilfoid: We recently saw what appeared to be WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns putting it on his promoter/management as to whether he’ll be stepping in the ring with WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner in a unification bout in 2013.

I for one never thought that Burns would fight Broner in the first place given that Burns had a chance to fight him last year and instead moved up in weight to lightweight. So, I wasn’t at all surprised when Burns told Steve Bunce that it’s up to his promoter whether he fights Broner.

If you lose your “0” you got to go!!

Image: If you lose your “0” you got to go!!By Paul Walsh: Boxing has changed, so much so that the most important thing is keeping your coveted “0” intact.   Gone are the days of the best fighting the best in their prime, it is all about keeping the undefeated record in place as that is what sells.  My fear is that unfortunately we are going to miss out on some serious talent because of it.

This past weekend’s fights at Atlantic City was a prime example of what I am talking about, two fast rising unbeaten fighters (Adrien Broner and Seth Mitchell) put their “0” on the line.  Both fights ended spectacularly but only one “0” remained.  Broner’s and with that he’s stock rose whereas Mitchell’s dropped dramatically.

TEAM UK vs TEAM USA; Wilder, Broner, Froch

Image: TEAM UK vs TEAM USA; Wilder, Broner, FrochBy Madern: Readers on this website are split between the nations of Great Britain and the U S of A (apologies to anyone else!) with a sense of animosity and a biased view. I am a representative of one of these great boxing countries but I will say no more.

This piece I have created is meant to be an unbiased view of who I would predict would be the winner between these  potential bouts.

Ricky Burns: The Broner fight is up to my management

Image: Ricky Burns: The Broner fight is up to my managementBy Scott Gilfoid: Whether WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) faces WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) in a mouthwatering unification bout in the near future is up to Burns’s management, he says.

Burns told Steve Bunce “I just leave it up to my management and promoter. They always give me the fights at the right time.”

So Burns is just leaving up to his management and promoter whether he fights Broner? I can’t stand when fighters give that as the excuse when asked why don’t they fight so and so. I mean, does Burns want to fight Broner or not? The old ‘I’m leaving it up to my promoter bit’ makes me think that Burns isn’t all that interested in facing Broner.

The Broner Dilemma

Image: The Broner DilemmaBy Rusty Nate: I recently read an article regarding Adrien Broner and what is next for him after capturing the World Title from Demarco and also securing the number 1 spot in the Ring Lightweight Ranking.

A lot has been speculated.

He shouldn’t fight Burns because it would be an easy win so what’s the point.

He should step straight up and fight the champions at Light Welter.
