Andre Ward hoping to be back in the ring in 2015

ward765By Cameron Gillon: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward is hoping to be back in the ring early 2015, the unbeaten american super middleweight is still involved in a long battle lawsuit with promoter Dan Goosen and it doesn’t look like that’s going to end anytime soon.

It’s a big shame that Ward has this problem, the guy has a lot of talent and would be one of the hot runners to take over Floyd Mayweather Jr’s spot as the pound for pound king when he retires, he could still do that but needs to get active, Ward won the super six tournament in 2011 and held the WBC, WBA and Ring and Lineal super middleweight titles and hasn’t lost any of them but due to being inactive he was stripped off the WBC title and refused to have the champion emeritus status.

Mayweather hopeful of Pacquiao showdown in May 2015

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Cameron Gillon: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) defeated Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision victory last Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was a rematch from there May fight earlier this year. The rematch came about after feeling in some fans eyes and certainly Maidana and his camp that they done enough to get the victory. What was very unlike Mayweather, he granted Maidana a rematch despite clearly winning the fight this time round last May. I thought he did this first time but this one was certainly a lot clearer than the first bout.

Sergio Martinez to meet doctor next Tuesday for tests on his injuries

martinez693By Cameron Gillon: Former WBC, WBO and Ring middleweight champion Sergio Martinez career will be decided next week when he meets with a doctor to run tests on the injuries he has occurred over recent years.

Martinez is coming off a heavy loss to the new WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto where Martinez lost that title to Cotto, Martinez to me was a favorite and I gave Cotto no chance of winning this fight due to Cotto not ever fighting at 160 and Martinez still being good enough to beat Cotto.

That wasn’t the case as Cotto put Martinez down three times in the 1st round and then again in the 9th. The fight was stopped by Martinez’s trainer who could clearly see Martinez was not going to win on the scorecards and had nothing left to go for the knockout. Martinez’s legs couldn’t handle Cotto’s power shots and the only thing that kept Martinez was going was the heart he has.

Is Mayweather wrongly blamed for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight never happening?

_DSC8962(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Cameron Gillon: I’m a young boxing fan, but I study the sport every day with great detail. Lately I’ve seen a lot of articles on here being based around the long awaited mega fight of this generation between the two best welterweight fighters in the world right now in Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.

Now this fight was really bought up when Mayweather came back from retirement in 2009, he had his first fight back against a fighter Pacquiao knows better than anyone in Juan Manual Marquez. Marquez was moving up two divisions to get this fight but was arguably in the peek of his career when they fought and Mayweather defeated Marquez in a 12 round unanimous decision. After that fight everyone in the boxing world firmly believed we was finally going to see the fight the world awaited and still does in 2010.

Canelo doesn’t think about fighting Mayweather again in his career

canelo76By Cameron Gillon: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs) has said that when he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr in September 2013 for a while he thought about having a rematch potentially one day to try and right the wrong, but nowadays is more focused on building his own status as a pay-per-view fighter.

Canelo faced Mayweather last September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and got beat decisively in a 12 round unanimous loss and you can argue he didn’t win one round. Canelo looked very bad in the fight. Weight drained or not he had completely the wrong game plan and looked lost from the 3rd round. As soon as Floyd got the feel of Canelo, Floyd didn’t lose a step.
