Jake Paul: Undeterred and Unapologetic About Facing Iron Mike

Jake Paul, the fabulously rich YouTuber turned boxer, isn’t bothered about the criticism he’s receiving for fighting 58-year-old legend Mike Tyson in an exhibition match on Netflix PPV on July 20th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Paul has no regrets about fighting the former heavyweight champion Tyson, and he feels confident about winning. Many fans feel the same way, noting that Tyson lost his last fight nearly 20 years ago against a ham & egger, Kevin McBride, in 2005. That’s a guy that Jake Paul would mop the floor with.

“It’s very 50/50. To the people who don’t think I’m gonna win – I’m younger, faster, sharper and can hit at the same level that he can, and be able to take his punches,” said Jake Paul on X, talking about his confidence of defeating Tyson.

Does Jake Paul Hold the Physical Advantages?

  • Age? Jake, 27, holds a big advantage in this category over the 58-year-old Tyson, who hasn’t lived the cleanest life since retiring in 2005.
  • Faster? Nah, Tyson still has faster hand speed than Jake Paul by a long shot. Speed is not one of Jake’s blessings. He has a powerful right hand and can take a good shot without hitting the deck.
  • Sharper? Jake didn’t look sharp in his loss to Tommy Fury. He showed no ability to fight through Tommy’s nonstop clinches, and his inside game was nonexistent. For the most part, Jake fought like a rank amateur and didn’t know how to deal with Tommy Fury’s ugly spoiling.
  • Equal Power? Jake dreams if he believes he has equal power as Tyson. All you have to do is watch the thudding shots that Mike was landing during his recent mitt workout to know that his power is on another level than Jake’s.

The Financial Upside

Mike Tyson reportedly gets $20 million for the match against the 27-year-old Jake Paul. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Tyson’s fortune is estimated at $10 million. Adding another $20M will be a nice boost for the former unified heavyweight champion.

It’s unclear how much money Jake will get for this fight, but it’s got to be a pretty penny. If Jake loses, he’ll cry his way to the bank because he will be getting plenty of sweet dough for this clash with the old legend, Tyson.
