Devin Haney needs to beat up Ryan Garcia on Saturday night on DAZN PPV to make fans want to see him moving forward. The grandpa style that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has been rocking for the last nine years isn’t exciting to the fans. It’s time for Devin to show some killer instinct against Ryan, and take some risks for once in his life.
KOs are box office gold. If you can’t knock someone out, fans aren’t going to care. Haney needs to understand this and stop boring his fans with his old-man style of fighting. Devin fights like a 40-year-old, who is doing the minimum to get the victory, and that approach isn’t attracting fans.
WBC light welterweight champion Haney has got to be more aggressive in this fight with all the attention it’ll be receiving, and that means bonding the safety-first, old-man style that he’s been using throughout his nine-year professional career, even if it means he has to get up off the floor to win.
Take Some Risks or Risk Being Forgotten
The poor ticket sales at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, reflect that fans aren’t excited to see Haney fight. The 50K PPV buys he brought in for his last contest in December are also a sign that people don’t view him as a guy they’re willing to pay to watch.
With Haney’s lowly 48% knockout rate, he needs to start knocking guys out if he wants to become an attraction in the sport.
Pre-fight antics ain’t the solution

I feel that the promoters should tell the fighters how to conduct themselves to get this done,” said Shawn Porter to Fighthype, talking about Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney being blocked by the New York Mets organization from on-the-field promotional event this week due to their violent altercation on top of the Empire State Building.
“Everybody is missing out on money now because y’all not prepping the fighters because the fighters not giving a damn or not know they should give a damn. The world expects Devin to win. I expect Devin to win, but I expect something crazy from Ryan.
“I think [Subriel] Matias is a tough fight [for Haney]. I think Pitbull Cruz is a long night, but I think Matias is a really tough fight,” said Porter.
