Ryan Garcia said today that if Devin Haney runs on Saturday night, he’ll “hunt” him down and knock him out in their fight on DAZN PPV.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) said he’ll fight him in the center of the ring, but Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) doesn’t believe him and is ready to chase him. The unbeaten champion Haney says he’s coming to fight, but will he?
Massive Favorite, Mismatched Fight?
Devin is a massive -800 favorite to beat +500 Ryan, and many boxing fans question why this fight is even happening. It was a horrible one to make from the get-go, and it’s gotten worse with Ryan going into a meltdown.
With Haney being that big of a favorite, he needs to take some chances to entertain the fans so they don’t feel ripped off afterward, like we did in his last fight when he played it safe against Regis Prograis for 12 rounds.
Haney labels Ryan’s behavior as “antics,” but that’s a polite term for what’s happened to the guy. Ryan hasn’t seemed well, and that makes Haney look bad that he chose him to fight over more compelling options at 140, like Subriel Matias, Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, and Richardson Hitchins.
Spotlight on a Thin Card
It would be great for the paying fans if WBC light welterweight champion Haney fought Ryan in the center of the ring because the main event is really the only interesting fight on the entire card.
The undercard is poor, with a bout between Arnold Barboza Jr. and the little-known Sean McComb in the co-feature. Golden Boy should have chosen a better fight for the co-feature because it’s a poor one.
The 31-year-old McComb is a domestic-level fighter at best, who was knocked out in seven rounds by Gavin Gwynne. He doesn’t belong ina co-feature on a PPV card in the U.S.

“We’ll go in the center of the ring and see what you do. Nobody is worried about that,” said Ryan Garcia to Devin Haney during today’s final press conference ahead of Saturday night’s fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
“Go run, go to the center, do whatever you want. I’m going to hunt you down and I’m going to knock you out,” Garcia continued. “Five hundred thousand dollars. How much? Bet?”
