Boxing Results: Nathan ‘Hitman’ Heaney – Brad Pauls Draw in UK!

At the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham, West Midlands, UK, over ESPN+ promoter Frank Warren (Queensberry Promotions) presented in the Main Event British and WBA Continental Middleweight champion Nathan ‘Hitman’ Heaney fought to a draw with Brad ‘The Newquay Bomb’ Pauls over 12 rounds.

In the co-Main Event EBU Super Bantamweight champion Liam Davies stopped Erik ‘Terrible’ Robles Ayala in two rounds for the vacant IBO Word Super Bantamweight title.

In the Main Event British and WBA Continental Middleweight champion Nathan ‘Hitman’ Heaney, 18-0-1 (6), #159.25, of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK, Brad ‘The Newquay Bomb’ Pauls, 18-1-1 (10), #159.75, of Harlow, Essex, UK, 12 rounds.

In the first two rounds Pauls kept coming forward being countered by Heany. In the third round both fighters were bleeding from the nose.

From the fourth through the sixth it went back and forth with Pauls still pressing and Heany countering. In the seventh round Pauls landed a left hook driving Heany to the ropes. Heany came back with a counter right on the chin. In the eighth round Pauls knocked out the mouthpiece of Heany. Heany’s nose was bleeding for the entire round.

In the eleventh round Pauls had Heany hurt and holding on at the bell. In the twelfth and final round it went back and forth with Pauls having an edge. Referee Lee Avery.

Scores 116-113 Heany, 115-114 Pauls, 114-114 a draw.

In the Co-Main Event WBC and WBO International and EBU Super Bantamweight champion Liam Davies, 16-0 (8), #121.75, of Donnington, Telford, Shropshire, UK, former IBO Bantamweight champion stopped current WBO NABO champion southpaw Erik ‘Terrible’ Robles Ayala, 15-2 (9), #121.75, of Ensenada, Baja California, MEX, at 1:17 of the second round of a scheduled 10 rounds, for the vacant IBO Super Bantamweight title.

In the second round Davies landed a lead right followed by a left hook on the chin of Ayala and down he went for an 8-count from Referee John Latham. Davies was all over him dropping him a second time ending the bout.

2016 Olympic Silver Medalist and former WBO Interim heavyweight champion and current WBC No. 12 contender Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce, 16-2 (15), #286.8, of Putney, London, UK, Kash Ali, 21-3 (12), #238.1, of Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK, at 2:53 of the tenth and last round.

In the first four rounds Joyce won them but only at the end of the fourth did Ali land his best punch a right to the chin of Joyce.

In the sixth round Joyce continued to stalk Ali moving him to the ropes for the most part with Ali landing a few jabs to get to the end of the round. In the seventh rounds final seconds Ali looked spent and is just moving away. In the eighth round Ali landed a right but Joyce countered with a right of his own in the first minute.

In the ninth round Joyce’s body shots have dominated a fight that Ali seems more interested in going the distance than winning a fight. Joyce had Ali hurt in the final seconds but couldn’t stop him.

In the tenth and final round after half a minute Ali landed a right to the chin of Joyce. In the final twenty seconds Joyce finally landed a right dropping Ali who tried beating the count of Referee Kevin Parker but didn’t quite make it. It was a win for an overweight Joyce and not pretty but a win is a win.

Former British Middleweight champion Zach Parker, 24-1 (17), #169.25, of Woodville, Derbyshire, UK, came off the canvas to defeat the former WBA Super Middleweight champion Tyron Zeuge, 27-2-1 (15), #173.9, of Berlin, GER, over 10 rounds.

In the second round Parker was doing well until after a minute a left hook from Zeuge on the chin dropped Parker for an 8-count from Referee Victor Loughlin. In the fourth round Parker switching to southpaw and back got back into the fight the past two rounds.

From the fifth through the ninth Parker had an edge. In the tenth and final round Parker seemed to pull it out with Zeuge not going for the knockout.

Scores 96-94, 97-92 and 98-91.

WBC International Super Lightweight champion Pierce “Big Bang’ O’Leary, 14-0 (87), #139.9, of Dublin, IRE, stopped Hovhannes ‘Hovo’ Martirosyan, 16-1 (10), #140.9, of Genk, Limburg, BELG, at 2:39 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds, of an all-action bout.

In the first round with a minute remaining O’Leary landed a left hook to the chin dropping Martirosyan for an 8 count from Referee Victor Loughlin. In the third round a right from Martirosyan on the right eyebrow of O’Leary caused a small cut, with a good round from him.

In the sixth round with a minute remaining O’Leary what may have been from a clash of heads followed by a right causing a cut on the left eyebrow of Martirosyan. In the seventh and eighth rounds Martirosyan was landing lead rights and O’Leary left hooks.

In the ninth rounds halfway point O’Leary suffered a cut on the left eyebrow. In the final minute O’Leary landed a left hook to the chin and down went Martirosyan on the seat of his pants taking the full count from referee Loughlin.

Commonwealth Super Bantamweight champion southpaw Dennis ‘The Menance’ McCann, 15-0-1 (8), #121.9, of Maidstone, Kent, UK, defeated Brad Strand, 11-1 (3), #121.9, of Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, over 12 rounds, for the vacant BBBofC British and vacant WBO inter-Continental Super Bantamweight titles, scoring the lone knockdown in the first round.

In the second round, southpaw McCann landed a lead left followed by a right hook on the chin dropping Strand for an 8-count from Referee Steve Gray twenty seconds into the round.

Strand fought back enough to get through the round drawing blood from the nose of McCann. In the third round Strand came back well. In the fourth round McCann was back on top rocking Strand in the final seconds with a lead left on the chin.

In the sixth round McCann drew blood from the nose of Strand. In the seventh round McCann dominated. In the eighth it went back and forth. In the tenth McCann had the face of Strand beaten up.

In the eleventh round after a minute Strand rocked McCann with a lead right on the chin. Strand finished well. In the twelfth and final round McCann finished well. (the video kept shutting down the past several rounds)

Scores were 118-111, 116-111 and 116-112.

WBO European Welterweight champion Ethan ‘Jammy’ James, 12-1 (0), #146.75, of Northampton, Northamptonshire, UK, lost to Owen Cooper, 10-0 (4), #146.5, of Worcester, Worcestershire, UK, after nine rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds, scoring a knockdown for the vacant BBBofC English title.

In the first round Cooper landed a left hook on the chin dropping James for an 8-count from Referee Michael Alexander halfway through the round. James would switch from orthodox to southpaw getting through the round. In the third round Cooper knocked back the head of James with a right on the chin at the halfway point.

In the fifth and sixth rounds it was close, with James fighting southpaw may have pulled them out with his jab. In the seventh rounds final seconds Cooper finished strong enough to take the round. In the eighth round James came back well taking the round while Cooper tried stealing it at the end.

In the ninth rounds final seconds Cooper rocked James with a right on the chin hurting him. At the end of the round the corner of James called a halt. The judges had Cooper ahead at the finish.

Light Heavyweight Ezra ‘The Cannon’ Taylor, 8-0 (6), #174.3, of Nottingham, UK, stopped southpaw Prince Oko ‘Prince of God’ Nartey, 11-3 (10), #175.3, of Somanya, GH, @2:45 of the fourth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the second round Taylor knocked Nartey down. In the third round Nartey was deducted a point for holding. In the fourth round Nartey was knocked down and referee Kevin Parker called a halt.
