Terence Crawford in Search of New Prey After Canelo Snub

Terence Crawford is searching for new prey after being snubbed by Canelo Alvarez and Errol Spence Jr. for his next fight. Canelo says he’d not interested in a fight with Crawford.  As for the former IBF, WBA & WBC welterweight champion Spence, he’s recovering from eye surgery.

It’s believed that Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) could wait for the smoke to clear from the March 30th fight between Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman before going after the WBO junior middleweight champion.

Boxing expert Rick Glaser thinks Crawford could target Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) next if he comes out victorious in his fight against veteran Thurman in their fight on Amazon Prime PPV.

Crawford will only have to wait a month for him to know the outcome of that fight and then quickly begin negotiations with Tszyu.

WBO Rules Pave Path for Crawford

“If Crawford wants Tszyu, WBO, per their rules, will name Crawford the 154-pound Mandatory #1 contender, basically forcing Tszyu into that fight. That would be a very big fight with Worldwide interest,” said boxing expert Rick Glaser on X.

Crawford would go the WBO route IF Tszyu were cool with the idea of fighting him, but he wouldn’t need to be dragged into the clash kicking and screaming because it’s one that he would gladly take.

Tszyu isn’t going to make the kind of money that he would get fighting Crawford against any of the 154-pound contenders or even unified champion Jermell Charlo, who some fans believe may never fight again after getting an enormous payday for his successful title challenge against Canelo last September.

Crawford vs. Tszyu = Massive Blockbuster

A fight between Crawford and WBO 154-lb champion Tszyu would have enormous appeal to the boxing world, resulting in a lot of money to be made for these two champions.

It would give Crawford a chance to capture a fourth-division world title and to show the fans that he’s capable of beating a high-level fighter in his prime and not a physically ruined & weight drained fighter.

Crawford’s career world title wins:

  • Errol Spence
  • Jeff Horn
  • Julius Indongo
  • Viktor Postol
  • Thomas Dulorme
  • Ray Beltran
  • Ricky Burns

Tszyu would be by far the best win of Crawford’s career, considering that he’s fighting at a high level and is seen as the #1 guy in the 154-lb division.
