Fury’s Rescheduled Fight Raises Eyebrows: Did He Need More Time to Train?

Tyson Fury took to social media to gloat about his new date and extension before having to fight Oleksandr Usyk on May 18th.

New Date, Old Doubts

Turki Alalshikh gave WBC heavyweight champion Fury a new fight date after he turned up with a cut eye, which he says came from sparring. Many boxing fans don’t believe it.

Alalshikh talked about a $10 million penalty if one of the fighters finds a way out of the fight. He didn’t say whether injuries would be exempt. If Fury gets injured again, does he lose $10 million?

On social media, the fans think Fury needed more time because he was getting beaten up by his sparring partners, so he found a way to buy some more time, lose weight, add badly needed muscle, and work on his mauling technique.

Fury’s Gloating Fuels Fan Theories

“I  got a new fight date. It was very, very quickly, I suppose. It’s upsetting to a lot of people, but refreshing to a lot of good people,” said Tyson Fury on social media, reacting to his fight against Oleksandr Usyk being rescheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury’s gloating makes fans believe that the postponement was a strategic move on his part and has nothing to do with the cut.

“Massive shoutout to Turki Alalshikh for making this new date possible so quick. Massive thank you. Everybody, I’m in such a good mood,” Fury continued, sounding like he was gloating about receiving the extension to delay his fight with Usyk.

“In life, sometimes [bad] things happen, but you never let it get to you. You always keep moving forward. Look at that [cut] right there,” said Fury showing off his cut eye, which some fans believe he did himself to squirm out of the fight with Usyk.

Will Turki continue to Give Fury Breaks?

“Nice little elbow in the eye. It nearly cost me my biggest fight of my career, but what can you do? Stuff happens, and we move on. We keep moving forward. Now, we have a new date, and Usyk is crying his eyes out

“‘Tyson wants to retire.’ He wants to retire. No retiring here. You’re getting knocked out. Knocked spark out.

“May 18th, the new date. Life and exclusive in Saudi Arabia. I just thought I’d let you all know what time [date] it was,” said Fury.
